Starting Salary is $16.00 per hour

Summary/Primary Purpose: To drive truck/van for collection of donations for Pantry, Thrift Store, or other Corps programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Make routine contacts for purpose of scheduling/organizing daily pick- ups of food and other donations.
• Drive truck/van to pick up donations as scheduled.
• Responsible for entering the customer/donor's residence for the donated item(s).
• Distribute donations to proper departments as required.
• Oversee loading/unloading of truck ensuring the safety of personnel and volunteers.
• Interact with donors in a positive and friendly manner.
• Responsible for truck/van maintenance and safety.
• Sort, box, organize drop box donations for storage in garage.
• Assist with warehouse processing when routes/pickups are slow or done for the day.
• Driving is an essential function of the position.
• All other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: none.
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and related experience in driving 14-foot box truck, including truck into close spaces, such as docks and alleys.

• Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
• Ability to utilize forklift and pallet jack.
• Basic computer skills with ability to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.
• Attention to detail and creative problem-solving skills.
• Strong independent judgement.

Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks.Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army. Driver's License and ForkliftCertification.

• Physical requirements include good speaking, hearing and vision ability and excellent manual dexterity.
• Ability to stand, bend, climb stairs, reach for extended periods of time, and dexterity of hands and fingers to operate vehicles and forklift, and other storage movement equipment.
• This position will require the ability to lift and/or move more than 50 pounds occasionally.

Working Conditions: The work environment is in vehicles and areas withnear moving mechanical parts and loud noise. The environmental conditions include exposure to fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, risk of electrical shock and vibration.
