Job TitleJROTC InstructorReports ToDirector of Army Instruction, SAI-Principal, AI-SAI/PrincipalReceives Guidance FromDirector, District Administration and Support Staff, Assistant SuperintendentOvertime StatusCompliant with position, salary and FLSA regulations Job PurposeIn keeping a tradition of excellence, the purpose of the JROTC Instructor is to provide leadership in the ongoing development of the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corp Program and to motivate students to be better citizens. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Department chairperson and chief instructor
  • Supervise JROTC program at each to insure compliance with federal, state and local laws, regulations and guidelines
  • Manage county and federal funds for the JROTC Program
  • Perform the duties of liaison to the Director of Army Instruction for the JROTC Program
  • Successfully integrates the Classroom Performance System within classroom instruction and has knowledge of curriculum planning, Army educational programs, drill and ceremonies and education administration, including tests and measurements
  • Recruits JROTC members
  • Collaborates with the principals regarding the JROTC program and parents of the members
  • Lead and attend staff meetings/trainings as applicable; serve on staff committees
  • Assume responsibility for own professional growth and development, for keeping current with literature, new research findings, for attending appropriate professional meetings and conferences, and to maintain any credits and/or continued education for maintenance of licensure/qualifications required for the position
  • Maintain and accept responsibility for any district owned fixed asset item assigned to employee and ensure appropriate use by following district policies for acceptable use
  • Undergo periodic evaluations according to state and board policy procedures
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Regular, dependable attendance is an essential function of this position
  • Perform such other and not specifically enumerated duties as may be requested by the Board of Education, superintendent, administrator, director or established by district policy
  • Read, understand, and abide by Employee Conduct Policy, GAB, all other district, state and federal policies, and procedures and protocols as established by RCSD and the Mississippi Educator Code of Conduct
Qualifications
  • Education Level: Bachelor’s degree or hold SAI position; AI’s must have an Associate’s Degree within five years after their initial hiring
  • Certification: Must be retired from the Army in the grades of E-6 through E-9 (AI), W-1 through W-5 (AI or SAI), and 0-3 through 0-6 (SAI). Not be retired more than three years (for initial employment) and must receive retirement pay
  • Other Requirements: General knowledge of course subject matter; demonstrate instructional ability; demonstrate the ability to lead, motivate, and influence young men and women to learn and develop leadership, self-reliance and discipline, responsiveness to constituted authority, and attributes of good citizenship and patriotism
