GENERAL SUMMARY The Director of Operations will oversee all aspects of Rapid's manufacturing and engineering operations, ensuring optimalutilization of materials, labor, and equipment. This role is pivotal in aligning manufacturing strategies with company goals, driving operational excellence, and maintaining the highest quality standards. The Director will collaborate closely with the executive team to develop comprehensive production plans and targets, and is responsible for leading initiatives that enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve overall fiscal performance. Additionally, the Director will act as the site safety champion and the driving force behind lean implementation.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Collaborate with executives to shape and implement long-term and short-term strategic planning, policies, and objectives.
Develop and execute a robust manufacturing plan, ensuring adherence to customer and company quality standards.
Formulate and advocate for manufacturing policies that enhance the company's competitive edge and profitability.
Lead and drive capital improvement projects, ensuring timely and budget-compliant completion.
Oversee the management team to achieve the manufacturing plan's goals, ensuring compliance with safety and manufacturing procedures.
Act as the site safety champion, promoting and ensuring a culture of safety across all operations.
Serve as a key liaison between department leaders and the executive team to ensure alignment and effective communication.
Strategically manage talent: recruit, train, develop, and evaluate staff. Take timely corrective action and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, in consultation with the Human Resources Department.
Spearhead initiatives to boost productivity, minimize costs, and reduce scrap. Monitor and act upon scrap and rework data.
Direct the implementation and maintenance of production standards.
Manage essential manufacturing programs, including training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, worker involvement, and security.
Lead significant projects such as plant layout changes, capital equipment installations, and major repairs.
Drive continuous improvement efforts with a proven track record of enhancing operational performance and financial outcomes.
Conduct thorough capacity analysis and planning to optimize resource utilization and meet production demands.
Be the driving force behind lean implementation, ensuring lean principles are effectively integrated and sustained.
Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
BS in Engineering or equivalent required; MBA is a plus.
Extensive experience with lean methodologies and demonstrated success in lean implemtnations; lean certification a plus.
10-15 years of progressive leadership in operations, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior management or director role.
Exceptional collaboration and execution skills.
Experience in life sciences or med tech is highly desirable.
Strong fiscal acumen and a track record of financial management.
Commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
Assist executives in defining organizational goals and strategic plans. Provide leadership with a deep understanding of the organization and its operational needs.
