This position is responsible for assisting with food service and delivery. Duties are performed within state health regulations and USDA requirements. This position is subject to technical direction from the cooks.

This position is part-time, 25 hours per week, year-round.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sanitation:

• Use commercial dishwasher or the three-step washing procedure for cleaning and sanitation of dishes and utensils
• Handle dishes appropriately to reduce damage and wear
• Clean and sanitize food delivery equipment after each meal
• Keep the dishwashing area cleaned and sanitized on a daily basis
• Clean the dish cupboards on a weekly basis or as needed
• Store all foods according to the state sanitation guidelines

Food Delivery:

• Prepare classroom dishes for each meal
• Assist with food delivery to classrooms.

Record Keeping:

• Collect meal count sheets after each meal
• Complete daily and weekly checklists

Assistance:

• Provide general assistance to the cook
• Assist with meal preparation as needed
• Work cooperatively with parents and staff
• Show patience and understanding with the children
• Support the Head Start Meal Time Philosophy at all times

Training:

• Attend all meetings and workshops as deemed necessary by the supervisor
• Maintain an awareness of current food service standards

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.50 per hour
