Job Summary

The Project Manager in Utilities Construction oversees the planning, execution, and completion of utility construction projects. This role is responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards while maintaining high safety standards. The Project Manager coordinates with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Planning and Scheduling:

    • Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
    • Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
  • Project Execution:

    • Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring all activities align with the project plan.
    • Coordinate with construction teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
    • Monitor project progress and implement necessary adjustments to keep projects on track.
  • Quality Control and Compliance:

    • Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company standards.
    • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality and safety standards are met.
    • Address any issues or discrepancies promptly to maintain project integrity.
  • Stakeholder Management:

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates and addressing concerns.
    • Facilitate communication among project stakeholders, including engineers, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
    • Manage project documentation, including contracts, permits, and reports.
  • Risk Management:

    • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
    • Implement safety protocols to protect workers and the public.
    • Conduct post-project evaluations to identify lessons learned and improve future project management practices.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
    • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification preferred.
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management within the utilities construction industry.
    • Proven track record of managing large-scale construction projects from inception to completion.
  • Skills:

    • Strong leadership and team management skills.
    • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
    • Proficient in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
    • In-depth knowledge of construction processes, materials, and legal regulations.
    • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Must be able to work in various environmental conditions, including outdoor job sites.
  • Ability to lift and carry construction materials and equipment as needed.
  • Must be able to travel to different project sites as required.
