Raze Early Learning Development Center is Hiring a Mental Health Counselor Near Spokane, WA

Who We Are: Raze Development is a non-profit culturally based early learning corporation. Our mission is to demolish the divisive and traumatic current narrative of the Black student in education. We believe that one of the first steps to doing that is to ensure healthy classroom environments for all through in-class mental and behavior health programming for teachers and students.

Job Title: Mental Health Counselor

Position Overview: Our childcare mental health team covers three childcare centers in Spokane County. This program is unique in that we work with the educators to identify and address their classroom behavioral and mental health stresses and to secure their personal mental health. Interested applicants should be passionate about early childhood education, providers, children, and families. In addition, they should have experience establishing new processes and protocols and work well within a team setting. This position will require travel between centers in Spokane County. Candidates must have reliable transportation, insurance, and an active driver’s license and be willing to use a personal vehicle during work.

Job Functions:

  • Provide trauma-informed, person-centered counseling utilizing evidence-based practices.
  • Identify and include the client’s support network and applicable involved community partners in care coordination.
  • Assist Teachers and Parents in identifying and accessing resources that will meet their needs.
  • Assist teachers and parents in the development of healthy coping mechanisms.
  • Provide parents with education on mental disorders and support with symptom management.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with community resources on behalf of clients.
  • Manage caseload and meet productivity standards by agency program guidelines.
  • Develop and implement care plans, measurable objectives, and obtainable goals in collaboration with the client, evaluating the client's progress and adjusting as needed.
  • Conduct risk assessments, then develop and implement safety plans and interventions as needed.
  • Maintained client records and all required documentation in a timely and confidential manner, per agency policies and practices.
  • Represent the agency and its services to the community positively and professionally.
  • Participate in required staff meetings, including regular supervision and weekly clinical staff meetings.
  • Participate in required training, consultation calls, and onsite visits or reviews when the contract requires.
  • Operate as a multi-disciplinary team member and ensure services are provided in the community and clinical setting in compliance with industry standards.
  • Maintain professional credentials, including continuing education as applicable.
  • Ensures services are appropriately documented by program, agency, and regulatory requirements. Is responsible for the completion of mental health assessments as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED:

  • Master's degree or higher in psychology, counseling, social work, or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Must obtain CPR/First Aid
  • Must have MMR vaccination
  • Must have Covid vaccination or apply for religious exemption
  • An ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of constituents.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Energetic personality.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make ethical and safe decisions.
  • Experience managing mental health professionals (technicians and support staff).
  • Ability to manage personal stress and perform essential job functions safely and professionally.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.

PREFERRED:

Two years of experience providing clinical behavioral health services.
Knowledge of service delivery models includes groups, skills training, brief/focused therapy, and community-based intervention for children and adults with severe and persistent mental illness.
Knowledge of Washington Administrative Codes and statutes about treating and delivering mental health services.
Knowledge of and experience providing evidence-based psychotherapy modalities.
Ability to communicate and engage effectively with individuals of varied backgrounds, trauma experiences, cultures, education levels, and socio-economic status.
