Job Summary

RD Offutt Farms Co. is seeking an Accountant to join its financial accounting team. The Accountant will be responsible for analyzing and recording capital asset transactions used in the preparation of the company’s financial statements. This role will collaborate with individuals within accounting and operations to assist in timely and accurate financial reporting and report results to management.

RD Offutt Farms Co. consists of farming operations across the upper Midwest in North Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska and Wisconsin. RD Offutt Farms Co. has a long history in the agricultural production industry and would like to add an Accountant to the accounting team to continue supporting the company.

Job Duties Include

• Record all financial accounting transactions for depreciation expense, equipment rent, and fixed assets additions and disposals.
• Track movements of capital assets between farm locations and maintain company equipment schedules.
• Maintain schedules for the annual capital budget.
• Assists in the monthly and yearly closing processes.
• Prepare crop year-end financial information used for annual financial meetings.
• Review invoices for proper authorization and coding of additions and disposals.
• Maintain schedules for equity credit for farm managers.
• Review Equipment use schedules periodically and send out to farm managers with service company equipment schedule to review.
• File form 2290 (Heavy Use Tax) with the IRS for trucking fleet.
• Import and reconcile inventory data for use in the financial reporting process.
• Be a self-starter; ability to work independently as well as with other personnel and management.
• Represent self and company in a professional and positive manner.
• Attend required company meetings and training and participate in constructive discussion.
• Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook.
• Conduct self in the presence of customers and community to present a professional image of R.D. Offutt Company.
• Proactively seek and participate in available company-sponsored training to develop and advance knowledge base and skill set.
• Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• 2 years of accounting experience preferred
• Exceptional communication skills, verbal and written
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics software preferred
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Candidates must have valid work authorization and be able to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
