POSITION SPECIFIC DETAILS:
Hours: 40 hours/week, Full Year

Payrate: $28.50/hour

Summary:

The Disability Specialist is responsible for the recruitment and responsive programming for enrolled Head Start and Early Head Start children with diagnosed disabilities. This position will support the successful development and implementation of IEPs and IFSPs; ensure all required records for children with disabilities in an accurate and timely manner; develop and maintain successful partnerships with LEAs; and ensure the agency’s full compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and other federal, state and local regulations. The Disability Specialist will work collaboratively with the Education Program Manager to support disability services for the agency

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in ECE Special Education or relevant Human Services field required with a minimum of one year experience working with low income, multicultural families or extensive work experience working with children with specials needs.
  • Professional expertise in specialty areas of Early Childhood Education / Development, Early Intervention and Early Childhood, Special Education laws and services.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational and teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrated teaching or training skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Working knowledge of local community resources.
  • Experience working with high-risk families in a multicultural setting is a plus.
  • Experience in organizing and facilitating meetings.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, motor vehicle and adequate liability insurance as required by the agency.
  • Other duties as assigned.
