Overview

As a HEM Saw Operator, you will play a critical role in our machine shop, ensuring precision cuts and efficient processing of materials to meet production standards. You will be responsible for operating and maintaining HEM saw equipment, following detailed specifications, and maintaining high standards of accuracy and safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate HEM Saw Equipment: Efficiently operate and maintain HEM saw machinery to cut metal and other materials to specified dimensions.
  • Read and Interpret Technical Drawings: Accurately read blueprints, schematics, and work orders to determine cutting requirements.
  • Measure and Inspect Materials: Use precision tools to measure and inspect materials, ensuring they meet the required specifications.
  • Perform Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting on saw equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Safety and Compliance: Follow strict safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Collaborate with Team Members: Work closely with production staff and quality control to ensure seamless operations.

Daily Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Morning Routine: Review daily production schedules and prepare for the day's activities.
  • Cutting Operations: Perform cutting operations as per work orders, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Inspection and Documentation: Measure and inspect cut materials, documenting any discrepancies and ensuring all documentation is complete.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine checks and maintenance on saw equipment.
  • End-of-Day Routine: Review the day's work, address any issues, and prepare for the next day's tasks.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience operating HEM saws or similar cutting equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Physical stamina and strength to lift and move materials.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Proficiency in inventory software, databases, and systems.
  • Familiarity with modern warehousing practices and methods. 
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Good mathematical skills.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Vocational training or certifications in inventory management, warehousing, and/or forklift operations.
  • Experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment, particularly in medical, aerospace, defense, or semiconductor industries.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 and/or ISO standards.
  • Forklift certification.

Physical Requirements

  • Capable of standing for extended periods and managing tasks that require attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift materials up to 50 pounds and adapt to a dynamic manufacturing floor.
  • Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.
