REBNY (Real Estate Board of New York) is Hiring a VP, New York City Legislative Affairs Near New York, NY

Overview: The Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as the Vice President, New York City Legislative Affairs for the Government Affairs team. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational, management, and lobbying skills, and will be the primary representative of REBNY for NYC Legislative Affairs.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with REBNY (Real Estate Board of New York) staff, members, and outside lobbyists to track, review, and prioritize City Council legislation and Mayoral initiatives, determine positions, identify interested stakeholders, and foster collaboration in response to policy matters
  • Prepare and execute REBNY’s City legislative agenda and strategic plan of action in proactively engaging elected officials and key staff
  • Develop testimony in conjunction with policy division and attend legislative hearings at the City levels
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with City elected officials with the purpose of advancing the organization’s interests and agenda
  • Represent REBNY at political, governmental, and other public events
  • Attend primarily City-focused legislative and governmental hearings and provide follow-up reports with REBNY staff and members
  • Monitor ongoing policy and political developments to inform organization advocacy
  • Assist Senior Vice President with divisional planning to ensure short and long-term goals are routinely evaluated and met.
  • Interface regularly with senior leadership of real estate firms and REBNY’s diverse membership to present policy updates, provide direction, and elicit feedback

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in public policy or similar is required
  • Minimum eight (8) years relevant experience working in or with city, state, or federal government officials specifically experience working with the City Council and the NYC's Mayor’s office
  • Minimum eighteen (18) months with demonstrated experience working on matters directly impacting the real estate industry
  • Must have demonstrated experience managing multiple advocacy campaigns and adapting to changing priorities in a deadline-oriented environment.
  • Must have exceptional writing and verbal skills with high intention to detail.
  • Must be able to work effectively, both independently and with other departments in a dynamic environment.
