Unlocking the full potential of life.Job PurposeThe Group Medical Affairs Excellence Lead will facilitate the development of medical affairs competencies and capabilities within the two business units by spearheading training initiatives, optimizing medical platforms, and streamlining processes. The role will drive the development of medical affairs capabilities (methodological and scientific expertise, processes and tools) across the medical teams of the two BUs, supporting both global/franchises and affiliates teams. The role will:
  • Foster continuous functional excellence improvement across the Medical Affairs teams by proposing and implementing new systems, tools and methodologies, as well as new channels to enhance communication with HCPs, in collaboration with internal stakeholders, as appropriate.
  • Coordinate, support and standardise medical processes, including engagement with HCPs, and report key capability metrics, in collaboration with internal stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Lead the development of training matrices and oversee training requirements in relation to each medical function, medical processes, compliance policies and other relevant SOPs, (e.g. onboarding training, continuous development training), in collaboration with Medical Directors and Medical Leads.
  • Lead and/or support training and coaching programs to improve customer interaction skills of the medical affairs teams, including MSL, in collaboration with Medical Directors / local MSL coordinators / relevant Line managers.
  • Oversee the management of the “medical governance systems” related to activities requiring medical input and oversight, to ensure compliance with all company’s policies and procedures, as well as international laws and regulations.
  • Support the implementation of cross-functional transformations of the Global Medical Office operating models and capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Drive the implementation and maintenance of global medical affairs platforms, tools and processes to enhance medical excellence.
  • Provide support to the execution of local plans dedicated to the progress of Medical Excellence Framework.
  • In collaboration with Medical Directors / local Medical Leads, drive the definition and implementation of non-product / non-therapy area specific Training Programs to improve professional competence development, including soft skills.
  • Lead (global) and/or support (affiliate) the development and maintenance of training materials, in collaboration with Global and Local Medical Directors
  • Lead/and or support the management and optimization of customer engagement medical platforms, in collaborations with other functions as appropriate, including automation and analytics tools.
  • In collaboration with Medical Directors/local Medical Leads, ensure systems, processes, and enabling technologies are in place to support Medical Affairs teams and MSLs and identify areas for innovative improvements to enhance scientific engagement, including new channels (such as e.g. virtual meetings/presentations, virtual advisory boards, webinars).
  • Stay updated on the latest customer engagement technologies and trends, as well as latest developments in medical affairs, research, and medical education, identifying opportunities for implementation.
  • Collect feedback from stakeholders to identify areas for improvement, implement actions to meet educational needs.
  • Develop standards, metrics and dashboards to generate insights and drive excellence in medical education and scientific engagement. Provide program analytics to support marketing and internal communication regarding the impact of supported medical affairs activities.
  • Set up tools, in collaboration with other functions as appropriate, to understand how the company approach to medical education and scientific engagement is perceived by medical experts and other customers.
  • Coordinate the training programme for signatories, ensuring accurate records are maintained for initial certification and re-certification.
  • Maintain close collaboration with Legal and Compliance teams to ensure adherence to the highest ethical standards.
  • Act as subject matter expert for the Code of Practice and Medical Affairs policies and procedures and advise on code issues in support of Medical and cross functional teams.
  • Effectively manage the assigned budget.
Required Education
  • Master's degree or equivalent in Health or Natural Sciences.
Required Skills And Experience
  • Significant experience in pharma-industry, at least 7 years in Medical Affairs Operations.
  • Previous experience in establishing medical excellence framework in a regional / international context would be a plus.
  • Good project management skills.
  • Good knowledge qualification in tools management.
