About Us
The Recovery Group of Southern West Virginia is a 501(c)3 organization established to provide community and faith-based recovery programs. The organization offers evidence-based practices that promote social and emotional well-being; prevention-approached, person-centered intervention; and self-directed and/or recovery-driven support services.
RGSWV owns and operates two (2) Level III Substance Use Recovery Residences located in Logan County, WV: New Beginnings Home for Menand the Marjorie Oakley Home for Women. Each facility is a 16-bed, faith-based, WVARR Certified, Level III Substance Recovery Residence, offering a number of services and supports to individuals who enter the program. Recovery facilities provide safe housing for individuals, ages 18 or older, who are recovering from substance use. RGSWV is considered a long-term recovery residence (6-18 months). The New Beginnings Home for Men was opened in July of 2014; the Marjorie Oakley Home for Women was opened in October of 2014.
RGSWV operates under the expertise and leadership of its Board of Directors composed of local community leaders, full-time Executive Director, and full-time Community Engagement Specialist. The recovery residences are staffed 24/7 by Peer Recovery Support Specialists, Recovery Coaches, Technicians, or the Community Engagement Specialist.
Through strong partnerships with local organizations, RGSWV is able to provide or facilitate job training, financial literacy classes, high-school equivalency classes, assistance with college course enrollment, job readiness training, resume-building, transportation, training and certifications, and more.
OVERVIEW:
This position requires the employee to be a facilitator in helping residents attain their full potential. This position requires frequent communication with other employees, which may include professional managing and being part of the support staff. This position requires a working knowledge and understanding of the problems of chemical dependency and the behaviors of persons affected by this dependency. This position requires the employee to be alert during overnight hours and monitor facility and residents with respect and compassion while ensuring client safety and security.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Maintain vigilance and awareness of the home during overnight hours.
· Complete on a nightly basis reports and other assignments that may be required as necessary.
· Ensuring that all rules and polices are followed including curfews and completing bed checks as assigned.
· Answer phone after hours and take messages.
· Perform intakes as needed.
· Drug screen residents as needed
· Immediately report suspected substance abuse to supervisor
· Complete training as assigned (i.e. Driver’s Safety, CPR, First Aid, Sexual Harassment, Workplace ethics, etc.)
· Transport individuals as directed, following all agency standards, rules, regulations, and all laws for safe transport
· Accurately record pertinent information when transporting clients
· Perform other duties as may be assigned by immediate supervisor
· Regular and prompt attendance is required
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
· 18 years or older and high school diploma or equivalent.
· Driver’s License and transportation to and from work.
· Submit to drug testing both before and after being hired
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND OTHER ABILITIES:
· Demonstrate good boundaries regarding confidentiality and personal relationships
· Demonstrate the ability to work within a team environment and problem solve with effective communication skills
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Able to stoop, bend, lift and carry 30 pounds. Able to sustain physical activity over extended periods of time. Able to work in a high-pressure environment with productivity. May need to restrain a resident if needed. Must be able to work an overnight work schedule. Must be detail oriented. This position requires flexible duties (more than surveillance). Work is in a recovery home and although precautions are taken, it is not guaranteed that some sort of altercation may arise causing the employee to become injured.
