What You’ll Do
Managing and contributing to our data analytics teams that ingest, transform, model, and aggregate the data that empowers teams company wide and our customers to make sense of and tell stories with their data. You’ll be working with data scientists, data analysts, and data engineers to provide clean, accurate, reliable models and metrics for our products and internal business partners.
Team Leadership and Collaboration:
Manage and collaborate with our data analytics teams, composed of data scientists, data analysts, and data engineers.
Foster a collaborative environment to ensure the team delivers clean, accurate, and reliable models and metrics for both internal and external stakeholders.
People Management:
Lead a team of talented analytics engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support as a player-coach.
Oversee all aspects of team management, including hiring, firing, and budgeting, to ensure the team's success and alignment with company goals.
Project and Capacity Planning:
Participate in project and capacity planning for upcoming initiatives, working closely with cross-functional teams to allocate resources effectively and meet project deadlines.
Impress the toughest customers around – students – by leading the building of the data models which drive the design cycle for fun and compelling apps, helping them understand their students by building modular data models
Help school administrators build great schools by:
respecting privacy and ensuring security while offering useful insights by making inquisitive choices in tech stack, database design, masking policies, and encryption
helping school principals understand how teachers are teaching and how students are learning by architecting data warehouse schemas and SQL transforms with just the right CTEs, window functions, and pivots
Leading the team analyzing performance and squashing tricky bugs using tools like Fivetran, Snowflake, Airflow, DBT, SQL, Python, Looker and Tableau.
Make life better for passionate, Marketing and Sales teams by building cohesive, common data marts from sources like Salesforce, Netsuite and HubSpot.

Leading the data model development and standards and the educational industry in order to deliver quality and consistent solutions
Example Projects You Might Work On
Building well-tested and documented ELT data pipelines for both full and incremental dbt models to funnel into a fact and dimensional data mart.
Work closely with sales on logistics pipeline forecasting and sales pipeline tracking to help focus our sales teams in the right areas for the biggest impact.
Align with finance on making sure we have well audited data inline with established financial best practices.
Engineer novel dataset which expresses a student's progress and performance through an adaptive learning experience which allows for flexible comparison across students and deep analysis of individual students.
Work with data science to measure the impact of design changes on an administrator reporting application.
Contributing to leading industry data standards, such as Caliper Analytics, EdFi, or xAPI
Crafting slowly changing dimensional models that take into account the nuances of K-12 education such as School Year changes and students moving schools or classes.
Requirements of the Analytics Engineering Manager
BS in Computer Science, Data Science, or equivalent experience.
5 years of professional software development or data engineering experience
Familiarity leading teams within an agile product development environment.
Proven examples of establishing and driving adoption of best practices in data analytics.
Expertise in computer, data, and analytics engineering.
Expertise in SQL and its use in code-based ETL frameworks preferably dbt with a focus on reuse and efficiency.
Expertise in ETL/ELT pipelines, analytical data modeling, aggregations, and metrics.
Proven ability to architect and implement efficient data models and optimize high throughput data pipelines.
Expertise of analytical modeling architectures, including the Kimball design
Strong communication skills in writing and conversation, including writing engineering training documentation.
Proven technical leadership in project delivery.
Preferred Requirements of the Analytics Engineering Manager
Fluency in a development language such as Python
Familiarity with metadata management tools such as Atlan
Experience building dashboards, reports, and models in business intelligence tools such as Tableau or Looker
Expertise with tools we use every day:
Storage: Snowflake, AWS Storage Services (S3, RDS, Glacier, DynamoDB) and Postgres
ETL/ELT: Airflow, dbt, Matillion, Fivetran
