Patent Attorney

Our client is seeking an experienced Patent Attorney to join their internal team.In this role, you will be responsible for developing and managing the company's patent portfolio related to our cutting-edge semiconductor switch and packaging technologies.

Location: Saratoga, CA

Responsibilities

• Conduct patent searches and analyses to evaluate patentability and identify potential infringement risks
• Draft high-quality patent applications covering our innovative semiconductor switch designs, packaging solutions, and manufacturing processes
• Prosecute patent applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and coordinate with outside counsel for foreign filings
• Provide guidance to engineering teams on patentability, patent strategy, and design-around options
• Monitor competitors' patent activities and provide guidance on potential infringement and invalidity issues
• Develop and implement strategies to build a strong, defensible patent portfolio aligned with the company's business goals
• Assist in patent licensing negotiations and support litigation efforts when necessary
• Stay up-to-date with changes in patent law and industry trends related to semiconductor and packaging technologies

Qualifications

• J.D. and MS / PhD in a Technical Field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in patent field, preferably with a focus on semiconductor devices, integrated circuits, or related technologies
• Strong technical background in electrical engineering, physics, materials science, or a related field
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineers, scientists, and business stakeholders
• Proficiency in patent search tools and databases
• Familiarity with patent litigation procedures is a plus

Salary: $150,000 - $220,000 base salary equity
