Payroll Administrator

CLASSIFICATION: Full-time, Exempt

COMPENSATION: $70,000 Per year, benefits eligible

POSITION SUMMARY: The Payroll Administrator is a member of the People & Culture team and will contribute to the overall culture of the company. This team member is primarily responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating payroll activities of the company. This includes benefits administration, payroll reconciliation, payroll deductions, general ledger management, federal and state payroll tax deposits and returns, new hire reports, federal payroll summaries, W-2s, etc.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process and issue employee paychecks and statements of earnings and deductions.
  • Compute wages and deductions, and enter data into HRIS and relevant systems
  • Address and resolve employee’s questions and concerns regarding payroll.
  • Work with company HRIS to process payroll for all Redstone team members.
  • Prepare and submit all payroll expenses
  • Prepare reports to relevant departments about payroll, including GLs, reimbursements, etc.
  • Work closely with benefit providers to manage company benefits.
  • Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes, and other general inquiries.
  • Assists with the open enrollment process.
  • Prepare and balance period-end reports, and reconcile issued payrolls to bank statements.
  • Review time sheets, work charts, wage computations, and other information to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies.
  • Collect and export time cards each pay period.
  • Issue and record adjustments for previous errors or retroactive increases.
  • Provide information to employees and managers on payroll matters, tax issues, benefit plans, and collective agreement provisions.
  • Compile reports, statements, and summaries related to pay and benefits accounts, and submit them to appropriate departments.
  • Complete, verify, and process forms and documentation for administration of benefits, such as pension plans, and unemployment and medical insurance.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of 3 years of payroll processing experience is required.
  • A bachelor’s degree in human resources, accounting, or finance is preferred.
  • Experience administering or overseeing benefits administration and open enrollment.
  • Experience navigating and operating an HRIS is required.
  • Proficient or expert-level experience with Excel is required.
  • Strong knowledge of tax and wage laws in multiple states.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
  • Self-starter with the ability to carry out necessary projects in a timely manner without supervision.
