Job Responsibilities Are you an experienced professional looking for new opportunities to further your career? The South Carolina Department of Veterans' Affairs is seeking a hardworking and dependable candidate just like you to apply! Serves as the Administrative Coordinator for the Division of Veteran Homes overseeing routine and advanced duties for Program leaders and support team members. Completes a range of clerical tasks including, but not limited to, managing calendars, answering phones, greeting visitors, receiving and distributing mail, scheduling appointments, scheduling and coordinating meetings, and helping to plan events. Works closely with staff to create and organize files, both electronic and physical; create correspondence; and prepare reports or documents. Specific job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Serves as confidential administrative coordinator to the Director providing a variety of administrative duties including, but not limited to, calendar, travel, correspondence, and certain meetings.
- Serves as administrative support for the Division to include, but not limited to, correspondence, training/ conference scheduling and the Division Task Tracker.
- Ensures timely correspondence with key stakeholders in the State Home Program to include agency leadership, Veteran Home team, Vendor leaders, Veterans, and families.
- Professionally represents the Director and the agency while corresponding with program stakeholders, vendors, veterans and families.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum and Additional Requirements A high school diploma and five (5) years of work experience in business management, public administration or administrative services OR an associate's degree in a related field and three (3) years of administrative experience; OR a bachelor's degree and two (2) years of administrative experience.
Additional Requirements: - Ability to work at own pace to keep up with many varied jobs.
- Must work well under pressure ( sudden budget cuts, staff shortages, or changes in procedures and operations).
- Must be willing and capable of applying broad guidance from the Secretary and Chief of Staff to specific situations often in time-sensitive circumstances.
- Must be comfortable at working in situations where there is not necessarily clear guidance.
- Must be aware of all responsibilities of the supervisor, in order to stand in and, deliver at director-level meetings and engagements.
- Must have and maintain a valid drivers license.
- Position may require overnight travel.
- Position may require employee to work evenings, weekends and/or during emergency situations.
- Position requires routine driver duties.
- Position requires frequent lifting up to 20lbs.
