Position Summary:
Production Specialists ensure that each production meets current, government-defined, broadcast standards. This role involves conceptualizing and designing complex program productions, operating studio and remote production equipment, and maintaining proficiency in all elements of live streaming and production applications.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide Serves as a subject matter expert on all aspects of the most complex program productions. Responsible for the production values and aesthetic qualities of the production and has control of the artistic and creative aspects. Conceptualizes and designs complex program productions with innovative and creative formats. Develops and fine tunes topical program proposals to ensure the accuracy of all aspects of production in a timely manner. Coordinates production elements including coordination with set and graphic designers, directs the implementation of multiple visual and audio elements on cue
  • Studio production and execution of live programs with production values and aesthetic qualities including artistic and creative aspects with manned and robotic camera operation, audio mixing, technical director, and live master control routing
  • Provide support for both the studio and remote applications, including camera operation, studio and remote teleprompters, boom microphones, audio mixers, audio, and remote indoor and outdoor lighting
  • Operate video-over-IP portable transmission devices such as LiveU and Teradek, and assist the signal acquisition team to improve skill sets and associated approaches and workflows
  • Operate a range of complex and sophisticated broadcast equipment used in the production, recording, and transmission of program material used for broadcast, web, and social media distribution. Equipment and systems experience required includes signal routing, server and digital recording operations, broadcast slate generators and master control switchers
  • Fulfill full team rotation on assignments, including serving as camera operators, camera-control operators, audio mixer and console operators, CG operators, technical directors, and lighting directors. Operational expertise must be maintained across each discipline
  • Operate teleprompter during live and recorded productions, requiring knowledge and experience in computer operations, including expedient word-processing to provide highly proficient operation of the Flip-Q teleprompter under dynamic circumstances
  • Team members maintain logs, & document and report operational and technical production issues
  • Follow and maintain government-defined procedural protocols, standard operating procedures, and broadcast best practices; this requires fluency in Multimedia Unit’s systems and associated resources, maintaining adequate communications with peers, team leaders, and other project stakeholders
  • EFP/ENG configurations using professional cameras and kits -, interchangeable lenses and tools such as lights, sliders and gimbals to achieve an array of diverse production styles and techniques in challenging environments - e.g. “run & gun” fashion
  • The Contractor will perform basic operational maintenance duties on select equipment as assigned. Maintenance will be completed in the time frame determined by team leaders and approved by the COR or COR’s designee
  • Performance of Livestreaming, Video Production, and Photographing support. May perform duties of a live program producer, including formatting, story selection, videotape selection, and pre-production and in-studio production tasks
Minimum Experience:
  • Must be able to obtain OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Training Course Certificate or Construction Industry Outreach course by an approved federal OSHA training provider before entering employment
  • Expertise in program productions and visual/audio elements
  • Proficiency in operating various production equipment
  • Ability to fulfill team rotation assignments
  • Experience in maintaining production logs and documenting operational issues
** The work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion, such as a) long periods of standing, walking, and bending; b) lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 100 pounds; and c) moving equipment, tools, materials, furniture, and a variety of other heavy objects**
