Position Summary:
To prepare food of the highest quality and taste for the residents, guests, and employees in the community.
Essential Job Functions:
•Approach all encounters with residents and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner
•Monitor residents' well-being in a general way
•Report any changes in the condition of a resident to the supervisor immediately
•Assist residents with requests as needed or find an appropriate employee to assist
•Look for opportunities to exceed resident expectations and enhance resident satisfaction
•Maintain kitchen and food preparation in a clean and sanitary manner
•Clean and inspect galley equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation
•Apportion and serve food to residents, guests, and employees
•Cook cuisine according to menus, production sheet, and recipes with consideration to nutritional restrictions and the number of portions to be served
•Clean, cut, and cook meat, fish, or poultry
•Ensure the safe working condition of all food service equipment
•Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly kitchen and storage area that successfully meets or exceeds all state and local health requirements
•Ensure all food supplies are properly stored
•Deliver all invoices to Dining Services Director in a timely fashion
•Maintain records of meals served and records of food and supplies used as required
•Interact with residents to determine satisfaction with the food service program
•Set up the line and cook to order
•Close the line by cleaning the steam wells and rotating all the food to clean inserts
•Clean all areas of the kitchen
•Prepare for the next day, sort out leftovers, pull foods from the freezer, and walk-ins
•Maintain a high degree of cleanliness and sanitation
•Support open and honest communication with and between all employees
•Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and name tag when working
•Look for ways to reduce costs and create efficiencies daily
•Ensure regulatory compliance and report any issues or concerns immediately
•Support continuous improvement
•Comply with Valeo Senior standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient community operations
•Perform other duties and tasks as assigned or required

Education/Experience/Training:
High school graduate preferred. One to three years of cooking experience.
