Red Rocks Community College is Hiring a Child Care Licensing Specialist Near Lakewood, CO

Summary of Position

Child Care Innovations' mission is to help improve quality, access, availability, and equity in early childhood services and supports. We do this through regulatory services, training and support for caregivers and early childhood professionals, advocacy, and innovative community partnerships. Through an Interagency Agreement with Colorado Department of Human Services, Child Care Innovations licenses facilities in Adams, Jefferson, Clear Creek, Gilpin, Larimer, and Weld counties.
The Child Care Licensing Specialist assists in the coordination of licensing services to child care facilities under the Colorado Child Care Licensing Act. This position visits facilities for the purposes of inspection and applicant investigation of prospective facilities, inspection and monitoring of facilities as required for maintenance and continuation of license, and complaint investigations. The Specialist prepares, compiles, disseminates, and presents all required documentation and reports. Works directly with the Colorado Department of Early Childhood, local County DHS/Child Welfare, and operators of licensed, prospective licensed, and potentially illegally operating child care facilities. May need to work with local law enforcement entities and Early Childhood Councils, as well as other applicable community partners.
Work is generally performed in the community of the assigned caseload. Administrative and prep work is generally performed in a home office but may be scheduled for rotating Specialist on Duty in office. Standard hours may be between 6:30 am and 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday, depending on caseload needs and inspection type. May require hours outside of regular office hours, and occasional weekend hours. Attendance at various off campus events and travel to and from facilities is required.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Sociology, Psychology, Early Childhood, Social Work, or a closely related field from an accredited institution, or equivalent combination of education and professional child care licensing or closely related occupational field experience. An equivalency will not count towards the three-year requirement below.
  • Three years working in a human services field in either a private or public entity, which includes working in the group care of children or in child care licensing, early childhood or related field.
  • Leadership or supervision experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus on early childhood education or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Current or previous license to operate a family child care home or center.
  • Five years working directly with children in a regulated child care facility.
  • One year supervision experience.
  • Experience working in diverse communities and supporting the success of individuals from racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented.
Physical & Cognitive Demands
The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.
  • Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
  • This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
  • The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.

Starting Salary Starting salary range for this position is $52,532 to $57,786 annually, commensurate with education and experience. This is a full-time, FLSA-exempt position. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.
