Job Description

Job Title: TIG Welder

Compensation: $18-$25 per hour

Schedule:

  • Alternating schedule:
  • 40 hours one week
  • 48 hours the next week
  • Week 1: Four 10-hour shifts (Monday through Thursday)
  • Week 2: Four 10-hour shifts (Monday through Thursday), with Friday as overtime (8-hour shift)
  • Generally, no more than 48 hours per week, with the option to work 48 hours every week if desired on the week off.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform TIG welding operations on stainless steel materials, focusing on thin gauge welding ranging from 20 gauge to 12 gauge.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and welding specifications to determine appropriate welding techniques and parameters.
  • Set up welding equipment including TIG welding machines, gas tanks, and other related tools to ensure proper operation and safety.
  • Clean and prepare surfaces for welding by removing contaminants, rust, and scale to achieve high-quality welds.
  • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions, ensuring adherence to welding codes and quality standards.
  • Inspect welded joints visually and using inspection tools to detect defects such as cracks, porosity, or incomplete fusion.
  • Perform minor maintenance and repairs on welding equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to prioritize work orders and meet production deadlines efficiently.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a TIG Welder, with a focus on stainless steel welding.
  • Proficiency in welding thin gauge materials, specifically ranging from 20 gauge to 12 gauge.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
  • Familiarity with welding codes and standards such as AWS (American Welding Society) specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality welds with minimal defects.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to operate welding equipment effectively.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Physical stamina and strength to perform welding tasks for extended periods and lift heavy materials as needed.
  • Certification or training in TIG welding techniques is preferred but not required.
