Position Summary:
REDCOM Design & Construction in Westfield NJ is looking for an energetic and experienced Controller. The Controller will be responsible for the companys financial and administrative operations, including developing and implementing financial strategies, monitoring performance metrics, and maintaining systems to safeguard assets and ensure accurate reporting. This role requires hands-on management, a deep understanding of construction accounting, and strong leadership skills to drive process improvements and support business growth.
This individual will be responsible for:
Operations Management
- Collaborate with the Project Management team to review and analyze the financial performance of construction projects.
- Enforce company financial policies while emphasizing organizational goals and accountability.
- Oversee and perform key accounting, tax, and treasury functions.
- Lead the integration and optimization of project management and accounting systems (Procore/SAGE Intacct).
- Manage the financial operations of all profit centers, ensuring compliance and operational efficiency.
- Supervise outsourced functions and ensure their alignment with company standards.
- Implement and promote best practices in accounting and operational management.
- Lead and mentor a team comprising two construction accountants and one AP/AR specialist.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Oversee the preparation and issuance of accurate financial reports.
- Personally review financial statements to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies.
- Provide clear, actionable insights and recommendations to the executive team.
Cash Flow & Funding
- Monitor cash balances and prepare cash flow forecasts to maintain financial stability.
- Perform 6- and 12-week cash flow look-ahead analyses and cost/cash predictions.
- Arrange debt and equity financing to meet project and operational needs.
- Investigate and execute investment opportunities aligned with company objectives.
External Relationships
- Maintain and coordinate relationships with external accounting firms for audits, tax filings, and financial reviews.
- Manage banking relationships to support the companys financial requirements.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
- Strong background in construction project accounting, including AIA construction billing, cash flow analysis, and account reconciliation.
Qualifications:
- Proven leadership experience in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with an executive team and contribute to strategic planning.
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
- Strong proficiency in accounting and project management software (e.g., Procore, SAGE Intacct).
- High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.
- Physical ability to navigate stairs and construction sites as needed; willingness to work occasional overtime to meet deadlines.
