Drueding Center, located at 4th and Master Street in Philadelphia, partners with families experiencing homelessness to support them to build skills to heal from trauma, restore hope, and end the cycle of homelessness through a trauma informed and housing first approach. This work is accomplished through three interrelated departments Residential Services, Community Services and Child Care.

Drueding Childcare Center provides high quality (4A Keystone STARS) to children from transitional housing program and the local community. Our Center offers full-day year-round early childhood education in five developmentally appropriate classrooms for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years (including one PHLpreK classroom).

The Assistant Teacher supports the Teachers and the Director by helping to create a warm, nuturing, and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. S/he must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. S/he is to assist in providing a warm, nurturing and safe environment for the children where self-concepts are enhanced, independence encouraged and individuality respected in accordance with organizational policies and state and local requirements. Assist in the implementation of the daily activities under the guidance of the teacher. Coordinate daily activities in the absence of the teacher.

1. AA/AAS degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
2. A high school diploma, 30 college credits, including 12 Early Childhood Education credits or
3. A high school diploma or general education development certificate and completion of a post-secondary training curriculum such as Child Development Associate (CDA) and 6 ECE credits or
4. A high school diploma or general education development certificate and completion of a post-secondary training curriculum such as Child Development Associate (CDA) or
5. A high school diploma or general education development certificate and two or more years verified childcare work experience; but must earn a Child Development Award within a year of hire and
6. Criminal History, Child Abuse Clearance National Registry of Sex Offenders Clearance and FBI Fingerprinting

LICENSE AND REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS:

Must have or earn a CDA within 18 months of employment.
