ReDiscover is seeking an Access Specialist to add to our Access/Intake/Crisis Department !
Who We AreReDiscover has been known for over 50 years as a non-profit community mental health center in southeastern Jackson County, Missouri with a mission of delivering efficient and cost-effective treatment for the people we serve. Our diverse team of over 700 employees is “Passionate About People” as we support our community, specifically those whose lives have been affected by a mental illness or substance use.
What We DoThe Access, Intake & Crisis department helps community members connect to mental health services in time of need or in times of crisis. This department aims to resolve and remove any barriers for individuals as they connect to the services that most align with their needs and desires.
At ReDiscover, while every day is different, a typical day may include the following roles and responsibilities:
  • Greeting and serving clients in a professional, friendly, and respectful manner to promote a positive treatment experience.
  • Interviewing prospective clients and/or guardians in person as well as over the phone to complete documents including client histories, insurance forms, and intake forms.
  • Assisting with referring clients to the appropriate programs based on the individual’s needs.
  • Completing regular administrative duties including but not limited to: telephone coverage, appointment scheduling, monitoring wait lists and referral(s) as appropriate for the client.
  • Collect and maintain information about clients and document interactions within ReDiscover’s designated electronic medical record.
  • Communicate and collaborate with an internal multi-disciplinary team to address various aspects of wellness and ensure positive communication regarding the coordination of client care.
We are focused on your development and will spend time helping you continue to grow as an Access Specialist. However, here are some things that you will need before starting with ReDiscover:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • One (1) year of progressive business and/or administrative training is preferred.
  • One (1) year of direct service to the target population or other related human service experience is preferred.
  • One (1) year of triaging high-volume calls is highly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of mental illness and substance use disorders.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a recovery focus.
  • Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel programs as well as G-Suite.
