Job Title: Preschool Instructional AideDepartment: Preschool; Lower SchoolCategory: Support Staff; Hourly; Non-ExemptReports To: Preschool Teacher; Director of Preschool; LS PrincipalApproved By: Head of SchoolsPay Rate: $18.50 - $22.00 DOESummary: Responsible for assisting the Preschool Teacher in implementing a program of activities that promotes the academic, social, emotional and physical development of each child enrolled. Duties and responsibilities will be carried out under the direction of the Preschool Teacher. Preschool Instructional Aide models a servant’s heart and promotes an attitude of respect, teamwork and professionalism by speaking well of other faculty and staff members; supporting our entire school system-lower school, middle school, upper school; praying for and with other faculty and staff; encouraging others in Godly living and excellence; lovingly holding others accountable; actively pursuing ways to encourage members of the schools. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include The Following(Other duties may be assigned)
Assists the preschool teacher as needed, including, but not limited to:
Working with students one on one or in a group, classroom tasks like setting up supplies, handing out papers, making copies, assembling booklets or assignments, assisting with projects, etc.
Works with the preschool teacher on prioritizing tasks for timeliness and efficiency
Ensures equipment and facility are clean, well maintained and safe at all times
As much as possible, anticipates what needs to be done
Follows policies and procedures including acceptable disciplinary policies
Supervises children at all times
Clearly and effectively communicates in a manner that children understand
Accompanies students to and from buildings and classrooms
Performs playground duty
Assists in maintaining discipline and demonstrates effective classroom management skills
Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops as required
Able to be patient but firm with students; feels comfortable hugging as well as disciplining
Keeps attention focused on students and areas assigned at all times
Performs other related duties as required

Cooperates with the administration in implementing all policies, procedures and directives governing the operations of the school
Assists with regular and accurate attendance and grade records
Keeps the teacher adequately informed of program or student deficiencies and gives sufficient notice of failure
Assists with maintaining a clean, attractive, and well-ordered classroom
Accepts a share of responsibility for extra-curricular activities as assigned
Willing to listen to the counsel of administration, colleagues, and parents, and is teachable
Attends and participates in scheduled devotional, committee, and faculty meetings
Arrives at work on time (7:45 am) and stays until the workday is officially complete (12:30 pm)
Reports to all scheduled supervision duties
Dresses in a professional way that is set apart from the students
Collaborates with other teachers and aides within the system

Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. Education And/or ExperienceA minimum of 12 ECE units of early childhood education required, with plans to complete 6 more units within one year. Education must include units in child development, child-family and community and curriculum. An Associate degree (A.A.) in child development from a two-year college or a bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Early Child Development is preferred. Credentials, Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsPreschool Teacher certificate is preferred. CPR/First Aid certification, cleared live scan fingerprint and cleared TB test are required.
