Job ScopeA growing organization is seeking an experienced Sr. Gear Engineer with processing/manufacturing experience. This organization has a progressive customer base including (off-highway, capital equipment, automotive and aerospace). Responsibilities
Understanding and interpreting customer prints, purchase orders, and customer specifications is essential.
Identifying tooling needs for machining, such as mill, lathe, gear cutting, grinding, and gaging inspection, is helpful.
Proficiency with the use of Inventor/AutoCAD or similar CAD software and working with part prints and/or models to create machining process sketches is required.
Generating process flow in PLEX (ERP system) is necessary.
Designing fixtures and tooling to support machining operations is advantageous.
Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) for manufacturing applications is essential.
A thorough understanding of Linear and diametral dimensional analysis (machining stack-ups) is beneficial but not required.
Assisting manufacturing with process-related questions is crucial.
Familiarity with heat treatment processes, such as carburizing, nitriding, and through hardening is advantageous, but not required
Machining estimating experience is beneficial but not required.
Gear manufacturing experience is beneficial but not mandatory.
The ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously and being self-managed and self-motivated are essential.
Processing of gear cutting or powertrain machining
Experience
Candidates with managerial or leadership aspirations are encouraged to apply.
Being a motivated team player with excellent communication skills is a must.
1-5 years' experience in low-mid-volume machine shops is preferred, as high-volume manufacturing experience is not desired.
Strong understanding of GD&T, design specifications and blueprint reading
CAD/CAM experience
3D modeling experience is highly desirable
Knowledge of ISO9001 and IATF Quality standards
AS9100 preferred, but not required
Knowledge of CNC machining, product assemblies and fast paced manufacturing.
Heat treat experience preferred but not required.
Qualifications
2-5 years’ experience in similar capacity
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience
Experience in high volume production machining
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
