Job Summary

BASIC PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to assist the physician or nurse practitioner in the assessment and the care of outpatients.

Responsibilities and Duties

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide nursing care to all outpatients, following established procedures of the clinic.
• Assist the physicians in the care and management of the patient.
• Insures that all supplies and pharmaceuticals are available for use.
• Maintain a clean safe environment for patients to include all exam rooms and hallways.
• Maintains all equipment in good working order and does regularly scheduled PI checks.
• Accurately charts all observations and treatments provided and accurately puts charges through on all medical supplies and treatments.
• To follow all clinic policies and procedures.

DUTIES:

• Prepare patient in exam room for the physician’s visit.
• Assessment of patient’s condition along with temperature, blood pressure, respiration, weight and health education as needed.
• Administration of medications as ordered by the physician or nurse practitioner.
• Keeps the exam rooms clean including the exam table.
• Assist the physician or nurse practitioner with medical treatments and procedures.
• Turns in accurate charges for medical supplies, medications, and treatments.
• Carries out instructions of the physicians and or the RHC Director.
• Participates in all in-services and continuing education offered by the facility.
• Any other duties as assigned by the Administrator.

Qualifications and Skills

• Possess a license as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Louisiana.
• Possess leadership ability and willingness to cooperate with the supervisor and other clinical personnel.
• Have the ability to organize, plan, and direct nursing care for the clinic.
