GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Referring Physician Office (RPO) Outreach Coordinator will utilize Registered 
Nurses in our outreach efforts to represent, and perform as a clinical extension of Henry 
Ford Medical Group specialty physicians and Henry Ford Hospital services. This role is 
a result of an expectation to grow local, regional and national referrals to HFMG/HFH. 
This RPO Outreach Coordinator role will be a 40% travel position that will require 
candidates to have work time flexibility for their 40 hour per week schedules. Extensive 
travel throughout the state is required. This can include overnight trips. Candidates will 
travel in their personal vehicle and will be paid mileage. Travel time is paid and 
considered work time. 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. The RPO Outreach Coordinator will be traveling to outside physician offices and 
hospitals to educate doctors and clinical staff on Henry Ford Hospital and HFMG 
medical specialty services for referral of their tertiary/quaternary patients. This is a 
relationship building/educating job between our medical group physicians and 
outside doctors on why Henry Ford is the best choice for their patient referrals. The 
ability to assist with the coordination of patient care is essential.
2. Candidates will be trained to develop operational support with physicians and their 
practices throughout the state of Michigan and Nationally. This will include liaison 
work between private practice physicians/offices and HFMG physicians, sites, and 
services.
3. Responsibilities also include acting as a liaison with external hospitals’ staff and 
leadership to assist with building and maintaining relationships. Strong written and 
verbal communication skills are required and the ability to educate external 
physicians about HFMG services. 
4. The RPO Outreach Coordinator will help identify areas for growth opportunity as well 
as at risk areas for communication breakdowns and information transmission to 
external physicians. They will utilize contact management software that provides for 
easy dissemination of this information to key stakeholders within HFMG. The 
Coordinator will work closely with the HFHS marketing managers that support the 
specialties. 
5. Coordinators will be trained on all aspects of HFH & HFMG services. Their schedule 
will include 3 days per week of travel to support their specific subspecialties as well 
as Henry Ford Hospital. The remainder of the work week will be spent on campus 
within Henry Ford Health System. A minimum number of physician office visits 
weekly and dinner/lunch meetings quarterly are expected. The position calls for a 
high amount of phone work, computer/technology literacy, making presentations to 
small groups and individual physicians.
6. Candidates should know basic Microsoft computer programs, mainly word and be
proficient on computers. Presentation skills are necessary along with high 
interpersonal skills. Candidates must be self-starters, and self-directed in their daily 
schedule, but will be supervised and supported by their manager.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or related field.
  • Proficiency utilizing computers required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point) preferred.
  • Presentation and interpersonal skills are essential.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:Current Michigan RN licensure required.

This position allows the RN flexibility while helping to grow our business with outside 
physician practices. An incentive program, tied to performance, is in place for these

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Normal office environment with minimal exposure to noise, dust, or extreme 
temperatures during office days. Extensive travel throughout the State and beyond.
