Job Description

At RTI we produce microbial inoculants for soil amendments. The Lab Production Technician's primary responsibility is making and packaging product for commercial purposes. Secondary functions include maintaining inventory of supplies and completing paperwork. Tertiary functions include conducting microbiological testing in support of manufacturing, raw materials, and quality control of finished goods. You will be part of the R&D team and support problem solving and resolution to improve product, practices, and quality by implementing and executing microbiology related projects that are in support of improving lab and manufacturing processes. Additional tasks include but are not limited to management of lab equipment including, calibration and maintenance.

Responsibilities & Duties

Responsibilities and duties of this position include but are not limited to:

• Production and packaging of microbial inoculants for commercial purpose
• Implementation and execution of microbiology related projects that are in support of improving lab and manufacturing processes
• Completion of product release paperwork
• Inventory tracking of raw materials and finished goods
• Responsibility for the routine microbiological monitoring of starting materials, finished products and routine testing as required by established protocols
• Responsible for the generation of documented procedures for monitoring and responsible for compliance with documented procedures
• Responsible for the identification and communication of adverse trends in routine microbiological monitoring
• Conduct sterilization of equipment and media to support manufacturing
• Consult on quality and microbiological issues, support problem solving and resolution
• Assist in the creation and maintenance of laboratory SOPs
• Assist in the writing of functional area status reports, regulatory documents, and process descriptions
• Maintain good housekeeping, order, and safety in the laboratory
• Familiarity with proper usage of personal protective equipment (PPE)

Qualifications

• Ability to work indoors and outdoors; field trials are conducted outdoors
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Lifting up to 50 pounds
• Ability to wear PPE during work hours as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or currently in progress
• Proven problem-solving skills
• Must be able to speak and write in English
