Region 2 Planning & Development Council is Hiring a Project Administrator Near Huntington, WV

INTRODUCTION

If you are the type of person who wants to be hands-on with local community and economic development projects, and enjoys always learning something new, then Region 2 Planning & Development Council is the place for you. As an employee at Region 2, you will maintain close communication with local communities and their residents, while having a positive impact on the region. Our staff helps to plan, organize, and coordinate projects and grants for various community development activities in the region. Staff focus areas include community development planning, project administration, grants management, regional community development coordination, and delivery of various types of technical assistance.

PROJECT ADMINISTRATOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist communities with developing a project, arranging project financing, writing and submitting grant applications, and preparing budget requests
  • Technical assistance and support for community and economic development projects
  • Provide project management and administration of water, wastewater, and infrastructure projects with federal and state funding
  • Visit work sites and receive technical advice and assistance from various professionals to fulfill project requirements, depending on type of project
  • Attend city/town council meetings and county commission meetings to provide project updates, deliver necessary documents, etc.
  • Advise Executive Director, other staff, and board members on progress or status of projects through conference calls, memoranda, and presentations
  • Participate in meetings, presentations, conference calls, and other correspondence with employees of federal and state funding agencies
  • Prepare periodic progress reports for various grants and funding agencies
  • Setup and maintain intricate filing system in accordance with office instructions and applicable project instructions

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  • In-state travel required
  • Occasional overnight travel to conferences and trainings, both in-state and out-of-state
  • Bachelor’s Degree and relevant work experience required
  • Must possess strong organizational and oral/written communication skills
  • Computer literacy required, especially proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various professional groups, board members, staff members, and the general public
  • Knowledge of federal and state grants, and grant writing experience preferred
  • Understanding of local governments, their function, and organization preferred

Region 2 Planning & Development Council is a council of governments in southwestern West Virginia. Through collaboration, our goal is to achieve optimal administration of planning and development functions. Council members are elected officials and stakeholders representing 31 units of government in the six counties of Cabell, Lincoln, Logan, Mason, Mingo, and Wayne. The Council is charged with the responsibility of implementing economic, community development, and infrastructure projects. Project funding is frequently derived from:
