Position: Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Watertown

POSITION SUMMARY: 

POSITION SUMMARY:  The Infrastructure Engineer role combines elements of network administration, system administration, and security analysis. Responsibilities include administering, maintaining, and supporting Reliabank’s IT infrastructure, ensuring seamless operations, proactively addressing security challenges, and designing systems with security in mind. The goal of all these tasks is to provide best of class service to our employees, and in turn, our customers.

This role works closely with the IT Help Desk team to address escalated issues and provide expert-level support. In addition, this role serves as the organization’s physical security officer.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ACCOUNTABILITY 1: Tier 2 User Support / Help Desk Coverage

  • Provide coverage and function as first level support when help desk staff are out of the office.
  • Serve as an escalation point for help desk staff to help troubleshoot and fix complex issues, particularly if server or network changes are required.
  • Maintain tight endpoint controls such as application whitelisting, least privilege, and segmentation.
  • Ensure system changes are logged in ticketing software.

ACCOUNTABILITY 2: Network & System Administration

  • Collaborate with CIO to plan, develop, evaluate, coordinate, and manage highly available systems. This includes network equipment, video conference, servers, storage, telephone systems, software, and software licensing.
  • Manage backup jobs for all critical assets, perform disaster recovery tests, and maintain disaster recovery documentation.
  • Assist in administering virtual environment, active directory, and Microsoft 365.
  • Troubleshoot and remediate any performance or application issues and work with vendor(s) to ensure appropriate levels of service. Securely dispose of old hardware.
  • Responsible for installing security patches on servers as well as performing regular vulnerability assessment and remediation.
  • Schedule and perform server maintenance during least impacting, non-business hours, when necessary.
  • Utilize security principles such as least privilege and defense in depth. Continually re-evaluate Bank’s security controls and the overall security posture while balancing security and usability.
  • Compile & deliver quarterly security reports to ITSC.
  • Communicate and maintain up-to-date, accurate, detailed procedures and documentation of Reliabank IT systems.

ACCOUNTABILITY 3: Security Analysis

  • Maintain SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) environment, ensure all systems are archiving appropriate logs, and respond to potential security incidents. Respond to and investigate SIEM & EDR alerts.

ACCOUNTABILITY 4: Security Officer

  • Responsible for physical security at all locations. Work with security vendors to maintain security equipment, add additional equipment, and ensure adequate controls are in place at each branch.
  • Maintain written security program and confirm it is followed at each location.
  • Report at least annually to the Board on the implementation, administration, and effectiveness of the security program.
  • Provide annual robbery and physical security training for all bank staff.

ACCOUNTABILITY 5: Vendor Management, Audit, & Other Duties.

  • Collect and review annual vendor due diligence. 
  • Help evaluate new products / services and the risks associated with such products and maintain the Vendor Management Risk Assessment.
  • Perform annual social engineering assessments and report results.
  • Work with vendors and internal staff to perform and mitigate assessments such as penetration tests, IT audits, risk assessments, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • 4 year degree in IT field preferred
  • 5 years of applicable experience

  • Problem solving abilities
  • Maintain the integrity of highly confidential customer and Bank financial information.
  • Monitor compliance to ensure that the processing and handling of information is done in a manner that adheres to FDIC regulations and consumer protection issues.
