RELYANT GLOBAL is Hiring a Chief Legal Officer Near Maryville, TN

RELYANT Global, LLC is currently seeking a Chief Legal Officer for their Corporate Office located in Maryville, TN. The CLO is responsible for providing legal advice and counsel to senior leadership and serves as a key strategic advisor and member of the executive team. The CLO will assist the company and its subsidiaries by identifying, evaluating and mitigating risk and legal exposure. Additionally, the CLO will provide executive oversight to the Company's Contracts, Compliance and Human Resources Departments.
Responsibilities
  • Proactively identify and assess potential legal and reputational risk in support of domestic and overseas operations.
  • Develop practical, creative solutions that balance legal risk with business impact.
  • Provide subject matter advice on a variety of employment law matters, such as the development and implementation of employee policies, organizational restructures, leaves of absence and accommodations, pre-employment practices, and other HR practices.
  • Monitor legislation, regulations, case law and government enforcement activities relating to all substantive legal areas, and provide proactive, strategic advice within all aspects of the law.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional business units on complex legal matters and special projects to drive and sustain legal compliance and further the long-term interests of RELYANT.
  • Work with business units across the company to ensure compliance with RELYANT's Code of Business Conduct.
  • Monitor legal developments across all RELYANT specific service lines.
  • Manage claims, disputes and work performed by outside counsel.
  • Develop and implement training programs for Company personnel concerning legal and compliance topics commonly encountered during business operations.
  • Represent the company in negotiations with third parties and their counsel, government agencies, and other outside parties.
  • Build collaborative relationships with internal and external constituencies to promote the strategic and operational objectives of the organization and its affiliated entities.
  • Review and draft turnkey agreements, joint venture agreements, SBA mentor-protégé agreements, large equipment purchase agreements, and other significant contracts.
  • Manage mergers and acquisitions, as well as matters involving corporate governance, company licenses and registration, and related matters.
  • Handle other general legal, regulatory and compliance matters.
RequiredSkills and Qualifications
  • Juris Doctorate Degree with strong academic credentials from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice in Tennessee.
  • 5 years of experience gained in large law firm and/or in-house position, with practical experience in contract negotiation and dispute resolution, labor and employment law, business/corporate law, and construction law.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and consistently deliver timely, effective legal guidance.
  • Willingness to develop a working knowledge of laws governing a broad range of topics.
  • Experience managing personnel.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to effectively and efficiently solve complex problems.
  • Demonstrable experience in drafting and negotiation of complex contracts.
  • Extensive experience drafting formal and informal legal guidance and policy documents.
  • Ability to travel domestically & internationally.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Preferred
  • Experience providing legal support to organizations that contract with agencies and departments of the U.S. Government for delivery of goods or services.
  • Familiarity with the federal acquisition processes and the applicable laws and regulations governing those processes, including but not limited to the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), DFARS, AFARS, AFFARS, and DOSAR.
  • Experience litigating or arbitrating construction or contract disputes.
