This role is crucial for overseeing the performance of hourly employees engaged in processing and warehousing. Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision & Performance Management: Communicate job expectations, plan, monitor, and appraise job results. Coach, counsel, and discipline employees, while initiating and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
- Staff Maintenance: Select, orient, and train employees, fostering personal growth opportunities.
- Workflow Management: Monitor process steps, personnel, and resources; study methods, implement cost reductions, and correct malfunctions. Foster cooperation within and between departments.
- Production Planning: Schedule and assign personnel, establish priorities, monitor progress, revise schedules, and resolve issues. Report on shift production summaries.
- Quality Assurance: Enforce organizational standards to maintain quality service.
- Equipment Management: Call for repairs and evaluate new equipment and techniques to ensure smooth operations.
- Data Management: Ensure accuracy of records and data; analyze production performance.
- Safety & Compliance: Educate and direct personnel on the use of control points, equipment, and resources. Maintain compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Problem Resolution: Analyze data to resolve personnel issues, investigate and identify solutions, and recommend actions.
- Professional Development: Attend educational workshops and review professional publications to maintain professional and technical knowledge.
- Team Contribution: Collaborate with the team to achieve related results as needed.
- Minimum of 3 years of warehouse experience in the metals service center industry.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Prior supervisory experience required.
- Strong knowledge of material processing and warehousing.
- Excellent math, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to meet workflow requirements and shipping schedules.
