Renaissance Child Development Center is Hiring an Assistant Summer Camp Teacher Near Milwaukee, WI

Renaissance Child Development Center - Summer Camp Assistant Teacher

We are looking for the *right* individual who is interested in joining our team of compassionate, respectful and dedicated child care providers as a vital part of the lives of the children and families we serve.

Conveniently located on Milwaukee's East Side, Renaissance Child Development Center has been serving the Milwaukee community since 1973.

We care for children from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and are looking for energetic and dedicated new team members.

Position Summary

Primary Responsibilities

  • Show skills in providing compassion and safety for all children in their care.
  • Show compassion, safety and effective team communication skills for all coworkers and parents.
  • Assist in the compassionate care of children ages (approximately) 5 years to 11 years and 11months of age*
  • Supervise children and participate with children in activities as appropriate.
  • Assist in executing activities, information documenting and all safety procedures.
  • Assist and execute routine tasks such as: meal times, group time, homework (during after school season), craft projects, art and play time.
  • Carryout documentation of daily observations and entering information into our online reporting app.
  • Provide positive and nurturing guidance for children’s behavior.
  • Ability to work with co-teachers in a fun and safe learning environment for the children in our care.
  • Communicate with parents in a profession and on an ongoing basis.
  • Communicate with team members and supervisors in a positive and productive manner.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment in the classroom and all areas children are present.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date reports for State Licensing.
  • Ability to lift 15-40 pounds continuously throughout a work day.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Training and Education Qualifications

  • At least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Staff Health History Exam is required by a licensed physician that includes a negative TB test.
  • Previous experience with diverse populations and possess the ability to build and work productively with individuals with diverse communication styles.
  • Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
  • Meets educational and experience qualifications established by state law.

***Preferred Classes****

  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, and Child Abuse prevention training.
  • Become a member of The Registry and maintain current status as required by Wisconsin State Licensing Laws.

***Classes within 3 months of employment (is year-round employee)***

  • Introduction to the School Age Care Profession and Skills and Strategies for the School Age Care Teacher

Pay to commensurate with experience.

Paid vacation and training offered to full-time staff after a 90 day probation period.
