Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority is Hiring an Air Service Specialist Near Reno, NV

The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority (RTAA) is an organization on the MOVE. We are hard at work transforming the travel experience with MoreRNO, the largest infrastructure program in our airport's history. That means we are busy doing great things everyday as the economic engine for the Reno-Tahoe region. We are looking for an Air Service Specialist to join our team. If you've got jet fuel running through your veins, if you want to be at the heart of a busy airport environment and part of our high-functioning team, then opportunity is knocking on your door.
The Air Service Specialist reports to the Manager of Air Service Development and assists in the planning, development, coordination and implementation of programs, initiatives and activities designed to retain, expand and attract air service at Reno-Tahoe International Airport.
The Air Service Specialist classification exists to assist in the planning, development and implementation of comprehensive air service and route development strategies designed to promote increased utilization of the airport for passenger travel and cargo air service.
Examples of Duties
  • Assists Air Service Developpement Manager and Chief Air Service Development Officer in implementing the air service development strategic plan.
  • Responsible for recurring Air Service Development reports, such as passenger trends, flight schedules, etc. Conducts research and analytical studies on a variety of airline and air service business problems and issues.
  • Assists in identifying and targeting domestic and international airlines as potential customers through research and communication.
  • Prepares presentations customized to meet the needs of specific carrier or audience.
  • Assists in coordinating business and community activities to build support for air service and route development.
  • Maintains Business Travel Survey and compile results. Creates and maintains relationships with key companies in the Northern Nevada region.
  • Conduct interviews to understand their business travel patterns and compile information to be shared with airlines.
  • Maintains an understanding of Department of Transportation and foreign regulatory policies and issues affecting the airline industry.
  • Keeping abreast of the economic environment of Northern Nevada and compile information to be used in airline presentations.
  • Coordinates and participates in community outreach events, business, and tourism, that support air service strategy.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with key contacts, trade offices, and representatives of economic development agencies, convention and visitor authorities, and other community organizations.
  • Assists in coordinating and implementing Air Service Incentive Program at RNO.
  • Assists in hosting Airline FAM visits. This includes duties, such as, program, travel/lodging, and coordination with local partners for tours/presentations, etc.
  • Research and manage protocol gifts for airline representatives, including logistics.
  • Assists in creating passenger and landed weight forecast, and department budget.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with freight forwarders and logistics providers to ensure efficient air cargo movement in Northern Nevada, while staying informed on industry trends.".
  • Airline engagement opportunities may begin after one year in this role.
  • Maintains and supports a high level of customer service to peers, partners and passengers.
  • Adheres to safe operating procedures set forth by the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority and OHSA.
  • Other assignments and/or duties as directed by a member of management.

Required Education / Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Marketing, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Two (2) years office administrative or related experience or equivalent combination of education, experience and training is required.
Required Licensing and/or Certifications
Possession of a valid Nevada Driver's License; ability to obtain and maintain eligibility to hold a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of route service development, including passenger air and cargo services.
  • Knowledge of market trends, economic conditions, and airline business economics in the aviation industry.
  • Knowledge of research methods and analysis techniques.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret various air transportation datasets as well as work well with aviation industry metrics, numbers, and trends.
  • Ability to make recommendations on changes in approach, concepts, and air service development strategy.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish, maintain and foster effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, which includes internal and external stakeholders.
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time, reach, bend, climb, lift, push, and pull items.
Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to traverse throughout the terminal and administrative offices area.

Entry Salary: $34.57 - $43.56, with opportunity for additional merit-based increases up to a range maximum of $52.55. I nitial salary placement will be based upon experience and qualifications. This is an hourly and overtime eligible position.
Benefits: The RTAA offers a competitive wage and benefit package, which includes 100% employer paid contributions to a distinct, defined benefit retirement program (Nevada PERS), and this position is exempt from contributions to Social Security. Nevada has no state income tax, and Reno has a comparatively low property tax rate.
