Job Description

The Quality and Safety Manager is responsible for implementing training and best practices across the company’s 6 manufacturing locations to ensure compliance with legal standards and customer expectations. Our ideal candidate is thorough, observant, a self-starter, and comfortable building processes from the ground up. He/She will be comfortable prioritizing and communicating with employees at every level of the organization. The person holding this position will participate in the launching of new work and will maintain the integrity of ongoing work. He/she must fully understand the requirements for the product or service and have a sense of responsibility towards our customers and employees. 

This role is key to our organization’s success, both in the eyes of our customers and our employees. He/She will drive growth through the consistent application of quality and safety protocols across a wide variety of manufacturing processes and services. While an engineering background is not mandatory, the ideal candidate will feel comfortable navigating mechanical processes and will feel at home out on the plant floor. 

Responsibilities

• Understand customer needs and requirements to develop effective quality control processes
• Devise and review specifications for products or processes
• Ensure all processes are designed and performed in a safe manner
• Assist plant managers in the enforcement of safety procedures
• Chair the corporate safety committee
• Conduct regular quality and safety meetings
• Set requirements for raw material or intermediate products for suppliers and monitor their compliance
• Ensure adherence to health and safety guidelines, as well as all legal obligations
• Supervise inspectors, technicians and other staff, and provide guidance and feedback
• Oversee all product development procedures to identify deviations from quality standards
• Inspect final output and compare the output to requirement parameter
• Keep accurate documentation and perform statistical analysis
• Solicit feedback from customers to assess whether their requirements are met
• Submit detailed reports to appropriate executives
• Be on the lookout for opportunities for improvement and develop new efficient procedures

Requirements and skills

• Proven experience as quality manager
• Solid understanding of OSHA standards
• Conscientious and responsible
• A keen eye for detail and a results driven approach
• Outstanding communication skills
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills
• Proficient in MS Office
• In depth understanding of quality control procedures and relevant legal standards (FDA and pharmaceutical)
• Excellent math abilities and working knowledge of data analysis/statistical methods
• BSc/ Ba in business administration or relevant field
• Certification of quality control is a strong advantage (ISO 9000 etc.)
