REPKON USA is Hiring a Principal Paralegal Near Tampa, FL

Job Summary:

The Paralegal is responsible for preparing various business documents and files for legal cases and compliance matters, including discovery responses, obtaining and maintaining applicable business registrations and permits, conducting Anti-corruption due diligence, managing employee clearances and export control screenings, and conducting research when necessary. Knowledgeable of in house and defense industry legal requirements and terminology; able to work independently, highly organized, detail oriented, and precise; compliance and customer focused; excellent writing skills, along with the ability to interpret data and legal documents, are skills and experience required for success in this role.

This is an onsite role for our Tampa, FL headquarters/home office site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft responses to document requests, including eDiscovery.
  • Reporting: Summarizing, preparing, and submitting legal department reports as requested. Notify management of non-compliance risks and issues.
  • Export Compliance: Conducting risk-based anti-corruption due diligence support to ensure compliance with federal export control regulations and conduct Restricted Party Screening.
  • Assist with business registrations and integration of any locations, business’s, including from mergers and acquisitions.
  • Administrative duties: Proofreading legal and business documents; calendaring legal cases, deadlines, and events; organizing files and managing record retention and records holds, etc.
  • Keep current with legal framework and provide updates to team as applicable.
  • Support the obtaining, transferring, and maintaining of employee Security Clearance documents, when and where necessary.
  • Conduct research, investigate facts, and develop legal position.
  • Assist Legal Department with other Legal and compliance duties and support as required.

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal studies, or other degree with paralegal certificate; Plus a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience, or in absence of a degree, 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in Corporate compliance and Corporate governance.
  • Ability to work independently, confident in abilities, but seeks help when needed, anticipates next steps.
  • Self-starter that will work independently in time-sensitive environment. Ability to multitask in a stressful and fast paced environment with specific deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; capable of interpreting and effectively communicating information to other employees.
  • Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Investigative mind and strong research skills.
  • Knowledge of legal framework and stays current with updated laws that impact industry and locations.
  • Uses good judgement and has sound decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Keeps private matters private and understands and respects the confidential nature of Legal records.
  • Acts with integrity, works collaboratively, meets commitments, and strives to continually improve processes.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Paralegal (CLA/CP).
  • Defense industry experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Travel: Possible infrequent visits to other Repkon USA location.
  • Work Environment: Office work environment.
  • Background Investigation / Drug Screen: Required.
