The Role:
The Production Supervisor stands at the forefront of plant operations within their designated area, directly managing hourly employees and coordinating with support personnel. They ensure adherence to policies and procedures, drive safety initiatives, and maintain Resco's quality standards. This role encompasses interaction with Raw Materials, Inventory & Production Control, Packaging, Shipping, and Plant Management departments.
In this role, you will:
- Conduct daily safety talks, report on production data, and drive continuous shift safety improvement.
- Provide clear direction and effective leadership to the production crew to achieve organizational goals.
- Coordinate with staff and production members on die changes, inventory management, daily production efficiencies, and quality concerns.
- Achieve manufacturing results by effectively communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
- Maintain workflow integrity by monitoring process steps, observing control points, and managing equipment and resources.
- Implement cost reduction strategies to optimize operational efficiency.
- Develop robust reporting procedures and systems to ensure effective communication.
- Facilitate timely corrections to process malfunctions to minimize downtime.
- Foster a spirit of cooperation and collaboration within the department.
- Ensure proper equipment operation by promptly addressing repair needs and documenting maintenance requirements.
- Resolve personnel issues by conducting thorough analyses, investigating concerns, and recommending appropriate actions.
- Uphold a safe and hygienic work environment through personnel education and direction on equipment usage.
- Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Assist in implementing LEAN concepts and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide direct supervision to hourly employees, ranging from 30 to 60 individuals.
We require you to have:
- Minimum of five years of experience in a relevant field/role.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting daily production issues and providing effective solutions.
- Strong mindset towards process improvement.
- Competence in production planning and implementing controls for improvement.
- Be flexible with your schedule due to demands of production, including overtime and weekends as required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel.
- Physical capability to perform tasks involving climbing, crawling, bending, and standing for extended periods.
It’s helpful if you also have:
- Bachelor's degree or relevant supervisory experience.
- A technical background.
- Previous experience in the refractories and/or ceramics industry.
- Familiarity with Business Management software such as QAD, MRP, or SAP.
