Rescue Mission Alliance of Syracuse NY is Hiring a Now Hiring - Staff Accountant Near Syracuse, NY
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Accounts payable coordination for timely and accurate entry of invoices in the general ledger system
- Prepare vendor statement and reconciliation as needed.
- Responsible for responding to staff, client, and vendor inquiries and delivering great customer service in a professional, polite, and efficient manner.
- Monitor and record banking activity into the general ledger system including ACH related payments.
- Oversee credit card activity and ensure proper and timely recording of expenses, as well as proper back up for expenses.
- Monitor and record prepaid and restricted donor expenses.
- Record monthly and year end journal entries to assist in month end/year end close process.
- Scanning, printing, and filing financial forms to assist with monthly grant vouchering.
- Assist in preparing yearly filings such as 1099’s.
- Provide back up to preparation of bi-weekly payroll, maintaining employee records, recording payroll related entries, and assist with payroll related questions when needed.
- Stay up to date on policy changes and trainings as assigned.
- Cross coverage as needed for other Accounting positions.
- Support financial guidelines and internal controls at the Rescue Mission.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential requirement of the job.
- Contributions to the team effort by accomplishing all assigned tasks in a productive manner, focusing on quality workmanship.
- Perform other necessary accounting duties as assigned.
- Associate degree desired or minimum of three years accounting/bookkeeping experience
- Valid NYS driver’s License in compliance with company policy.
- Must be able to work independently as well as thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, team environment.
- Must have the ability to approach situations with a problem-solving methodology.
