RESCUE is Hiring a Fall Internship - Youth Program Intern Near Denver, CO

TITLE: Youth Programs Intern – Youth Programs Intern
LOCATION:
Denver, in person and in the community
COMMITMENT:
10-15 Hours per weekAugust 23 - Dec 13, 2024 or full academic year August 23, 2024 - May 16, 2025. Weekly schedule during weekday business hours to be determined by intern and supervisor.

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship. Interns receive mileage reimbursement when driving is required

Scope of Work: TheYouth Support Services intern will work with the IRC Youth team in
program implementation, community partnership, volunteer management, and program reporting.

IRC Organizational Background: The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst
humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power to
people devastated by conflict and disaster. Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC is at
work in over 40 countries and 26 U.S. cities helping people to survive, reclaim control of their future and
strengthen their communities.
The IRC works with government bodies, civil society actors and local volunteers to help refugees, asylees
and those with Special Immigrant Visas translate their past experiences into assets that are valuable to
their new communities. In Denver and other offices across the country, the IRC helps refugees and asylees
to rebuild their lives through services and programs that assist with initial resettlement through longer-term integration. Presently, these services are case management, employment services, psychosocial
support, family stabilization, health coordination, health insurance literacy, family reunification and
programs for children and youth. The Denver office also has a legal services program to provide pro bono
legal representation to survivors of torture, as well as direct legal services for family-based immigration.

Internship Overview: The Youth Program intern will support overall youth team services and programs,
with a primary focus in youth and community programs. As a Youth Programs intern, they will also support
family and youth connect to community programs, by building relationships with community partners and
developing IRC youth programs. They will support with program planning and implementation, participant
enrollment, and participant evaluation or reporting. They will support with connecting families to
community partner events.

Some of the responsibilities may include:
• Program planning and implementation support with Youth Program Specialist staff, developing
participant evaluations, parent engagement strategies, and support leading program activities
such as field trips and workshops.
• Work alongside the Tutoring Together program for middle school and high school youth,
through volunteer recruitment & onboarding, volunteer training development and volunteer
coordination and communication.
• Connect with local partners such as afterschool programs, libraries, universities, and non-profit
organizations to partner on new IRC programs and connect clients to partner programs.

Internship Learning Objectives:
1. Intern will gain knowledge and experience working within U.S. resettlement process and
education systems.
2. Intern will gain experience in program management through supporting with program
processes: design, preparation, monitoring and evaluation.
3. Intern will gain work experience in building partner relationships, and volunteer
management.

This position reports to the Youth Program Specialist
