POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT Job Title: Special Projects Coordinator Salary Grade: 24 Salary Range: $87,405 - $89,434 The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. (RFMH) is currently seeking a qualified candidate to serve as a full-time Special Projects Coordinator. The selected candidate will present excellent organizational skills, ability to plan ahead, prioritize, and ensure the Bureau is meeting its deadlines. As well as having the ability to work flexibly and multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Additionally, the selected candidate must present excellent interpersonal skills, ability to engage diplomatically with colleagues, and external parties. Along with having the ability to act independently and exercise good judgment. Ultimately the successful candidate must demonstrate proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Project, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and MS Teams. We serve as the population health strategist, and policy, and planning authority for the City of New York, while also having a vast impact on national and international public policy, including programs and services focused on food and nutrition, anti-tobacco support, chronic disease prevention, HIV/AIDS treatment, family and child health, environmental health, mental health, and racial and social justice work, among others. The Bureau of Health Promotion for Justice-Impacted Populations (HPJIP) in the Division of Mental Hygiene aims to reduce the negative social and health consequences of criminal legal system involvement through innovative policy and practice change. By centering community, addressing racial inequities, honoring lived experience, and elevating trauma-and-resilience-informed-approaches, we promote evidence-based best practices to address the needs of those disproportionately impacted by the criminal legal system. Duties and Responsibilities: Reporting to the Assistant Commissioner (AC) of the Bureau of Health Promotion for Justice-Impacted Populations (HPJIP) the Special Projects Coordinator will: Coordinate special projects (which may involve programs, research, policy, or community input) related to key strategic areas for the Bureau. These areas may include strategies to prevent criminal legal system involvement, wholistic re-entry, racial health disparities, and other relevant topics. Conduct literature searches and investigate best practices on re-entry, prevention, and care for individuals and communities with criminal legal system involvement and behavioral health concerns; review and summarize articles and guidance documents. Support decision making by Bureau leadership. Support the work of the Bureau Action Team and implementation of resulting equity initiatives. Write/present reports, briefings, proposals, position statements and presentations for internal and external distribution. Consult and collaborate with various offices within the Division and Department as well as external partners in the community. Identify grant funding available to support/expand/improve the quality of mental health initiatives for persons with criminal legal system involvement. Coordinate and contribute to the development of grant applications (narrative and budget). Participate in internal and external workgroups, as needed. Represent the Assistant Commissioner as requested to community partners, providers, and the public. Coordinate development of indicators, data collection and reporting for the bureau for Quality Performance Review, Mayor's Management Reports, Office of Community Mental Health requests and other reports Delegate assignments to Bureau senior staff and collaborate with them to ensure timely completion. On behalf of the AC, review data and work products of Bureau senior staff to ensure they meet the expectations of the Bureau and Division. Develop and administer tools and tracking sheets to organize Bureau workflows. Organize internal and external meetings, e.g., prepare agenda, meeting materials, and minutes; draft communications to meeting participants; ensure appropriate follow-up on action items. Prepare AC for high level meetings and speaking events, including development of background documents, presentations and/or talking points. Review letters of support requested from external partners and obtain Department approval. Offer support in coordinating conferences and forums hosted by the Bureau. Serve as the Bureau's communications liaison. Manage and ensure timely Bureau response to requests for information from the Executive Deputy Commissioner's Office, Commissioner's Office, City Hall, or Press Office. Solicit and integrate responses from relevant HPJIP units. Coordinate development of testimony for public hearings Develop content for internal and external webpages for the Bureau; ensure consistent messaging across public-facing materials. Organize and develop key content for public messaging campaigns. Organize a Bureau listserv or other communication to improve information flow among staff and enhance shared learning. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in psychology, Social Work, Public Heath, Public Administration, Public Policy, and 3 years of relevant project coordination and/or project management experience. Preferred Skills: Understanding of the NYC mental health system for persons with criminal legal system involvement. Understanding of other agencies and systems in the criminal-legal system (e.g., courts, probation, incarceration, parole) highly desirable Remote Work Policy: DOHMH employees working through RFMH are allowed a Hybrid option post training and onboarding.
