Risk and Compliance Consultant

Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid - 3 days onsite)

Duration: 1-2 months (Contract)

Pay Rate: Up to $50/hour (Depending on Experience)

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Risk and Compliance Consultant to join our client temporarily. In this role, you will be responsible for updating and managing risk and control documentation related to key business processes. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, experience with Blackline, and a solid understanding of risk and controls.

About the Role:

As a Risk and Compliance Consultant, you will:

• Review and update existing process flow charts and risk/control matrices to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Create and document new process flow charts for processes that are newly identified or require revision.
• Maintain organized records of all documentation updates and changes for reference and compliance purposes.
• Identify and analyze risks associated with key business processes, ensuring that all relevant risks are documented.
• Evaluate and update existing key controls, ensuring they are effective in mitigating identified risks.
• Develop and implement new controls as necessary to address any gaps or changes in the business processes.
• Design and create detailed process flow charts for newly identified or revised processes, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
• Work closely with process owners to understand and capture all relevant details and variations in the processes.
• Ensure that all new and updated process flow charts are integrated into existing documentation and communicated to relevant stakeholders.
• Prepare comprehensive narratives and supporting documents to explain process flow charts and risk/control matrices.
• Develop and deliver internal controls training sessions for key control owners to ensure understanding and compliance with updated documentation.
• Provide ongoing support and guidance to control owners regarding documentation and control-related queries.
• Act as a liaison between various departments and stakeholders to gather information and ensure accurate documentation of processes and controls.
• Schedule and lead meetings with stakeholders to review and validate updated documentation.
• Address any feedback or concerns from stakeholders and make necessary adjustments to documentation.
• Ensure that all documentation complies with relevant regulations, standards, and internal policies.
• Conduct regular reviews of documentation practices and processes to identify areas for improvement.
• Support internal and external audits by providing accurate and up-to-date documentation as needed.
• Manage multiple documentation updates and projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and adherence to deadlines.
• Track progress and report on the status of documentation updates to project managers or team leads.
• Coordinate with other team members and departments to ensure cohesive and comprehensive documentation efforts.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in risk and control documentation, including creating process flow charts and risk/control matrices.
• Strong understanding of risk management, internal controls, and process documentation.
• Familiarity with Blackline or similar risk and controls software is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively work with stakeholders and update documentation.
• Experience in the energy industry and deal valuation is a plus.
