Nonprofit in the West Chicago suburbs is seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Grant Writer to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in securing significant funding from a variety of sources, including foundations, corporations, and government agencies. This role is critical to advancing the mission and expanding its programs and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Grant Proposal Development: Lead the writing and submission of high-quality grant proposals, letters of intent, and supporting documents in response to funding opportunities.
  • Research and Identification: Conduct thorough research to identify prospective funding sources and stay abreast of grant opportunities aligned with the organization's mission and programs.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with program directors, finance staff, and executive leadership to gather necessary information and ensure alignment of proposals with organizational priorities.
  • Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain relationships with grantors, including foundations, corporations, and government agencies, to foster ongoing support.
  • Grant Reporting: Oversee the preparation and submission of interim and final reports to funders, ensuring compliance with all grant requirements and timelines.
  • Data Management: Maintain accurate records of grant activities, funding prospects, and outcomes in the organization’s database.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., English, Communications, Nonprofit Management). Advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of grant writing experience for nonprofit organizations with a successful track record of securing significant funding.

Skills:

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Strong research skills and ability to identify and evaluate funding opportunities.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in using grant management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
