Dental Assistant Job Description

Title: Dental Assistant FSLA Status: Non-Exempt

Supervisor: Dental Administrator

Job Summary Responsible for providing a range of clinical procedures and staff support. Assist in the performance of dental, radiological procedures, inventory and office duties.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for preparation, sterilization, organize, and setting up dental equipment and instruments.
  • Offers chair side assistants to dentist and dental hygienist in the performance of all dental procedures.
  • With the providers’ orders, the dental assistant will administer dental radiographs.
  • Maintains inventory of dental supplies, equipment, and materials as well as maintaining thorough and accurate documentation of inventory.
  • Provides excellent internal/external patient service via telephone or face-to-face contact.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must have current, valid Registered Dental Assistant and CPR.

Initiative; flexibility; ability to effectively address multiple tasks requiring attention to detail; problem identification, analysis, and resolution. Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines; ability to function with autonomy and minimal supervision.

Ability to manage confidential records and information. Excellent communication and problem solving skills with strong attention to detail.Educational Qualifications

  • Registered Dental Assistant
  • One (1) year experience in dental assistance.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be willing to travel to all ResourceCare locations

Typical Physical Demands

  • Finger Dexterity: Using fingers to make small movements such as typing or picking up small objects.

Normal fine and gross motor control of fingers and hands.

  • Talking: Frequently conveying detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, clearly, or quickly.
  • Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information; hear whispered voice at five (5) feet.
  • Repetitive Motions: Frequently and regularly using the wrists, hands, and fingers.
  • Visual: Visual acuity necessary for the proper evaluation of a patient and to prepare or inspect documents or other materials. Ability to accurately view computer monitors
  • Physical: Sitting 20-30% of time and standing, walking 70-80% of time. Lift up to 20-50 lbs; push and pull up to 20-50 lbs. Able to bend at the waist, twist and turn along axial plane.
