Location: Remote Reports to: President
Purpose: To create, check and approve overhead line design services, focusing on technical excellence, right first time while utilizing the expertise and team within Groundline to deliver. To coach, mentor and develop less experienced engineer to improve the overall services, capability, and capacity within Groundline.
Experience
Sufficient experience in the design and drafting process of high voltage powerlines
Team Management – limitations identification
Understanding or design risks and CDM
Task duration forecasting and Program development.
Commercial understanding of risk and reward

Qualifications
Engineering Degree
Professional Engineer License
Activity
To coach, mentor and provide industry expertise for delivery of the company’s services.
Share knowledge, train, and develop others.
Develop best practice and ensure right first time for less senior engineers.
Be responsible for curating overhead line design and construction solutions in line with CDM regulations.
Be proficient in the planning, production and checking of suitable design analysis, reporting and output documentation in line with a customer's scope of works.
Develop suitable tasks for suitably experienced and skilled team members to deliver.
Use industry standard software, backed up with first principals engineering skills with the ability to produce and check outputs using a range of techniques.
Manage, deliver and critique detailed technical documentation to industry standards for the benefit of the customer considering areas of electrical clearances, geology, structural utilization, maintenance, construction, and temporary works (non-exhaustive)
Plan and check targeted reports in line with a customer’s technical knowledge and understanding.
Develop and manage budgets ensuring time allocations are well known, documented, monitored, and reported regularly and accurately.
Key Tasks
Utilize the team to deliver project scope.
To produce, check and approve design outputs in line with statutory and industry specific standards and best practice guidance documentation.
Be responsible for the delivery of complex projects identifying areas of risk to the company and customers prior to commencement.
Coaching and Mentoring
Design outputs, right first time, through checking and approving others designs using first principals and software (PLS CADD PLS TOWER)
To provide accurate estimations to the tendering team to enable work winning.
Monitoring
Monitor technical delivery and understand risks and mitigate.
Identify individuals’ strengths and weaknesses to develop a competent team to deliver the company’s commitments.
Build professional and personal relationships with customers and suppliers during times of delivery and opportunity.
Initiate/ encourage action which meets or exceeds client expectations. Seek new opportunities for the business and offer solutions.
Use, support others, and encourage a mixture of face to face, internet, phone contact, formal and informal presentations.
Promote a culture of positive staff relations, continuous improvement, quality, and excellence in customer service.
Listen and be proactive in furthering personal development of other team members.
Promote and grow the Groundline culture.
Tasks completed on time, to a high standard within budget and with no re-work.
Less experienced designers develop year on year.
Projects are profitable in line with targets and lessons learnt are implemented.
