Shifts: Mon – Fri 6a-4:30p & 4:15p – 2:45a; Overtime on Fridays

Wabash Steel pursues work across the Midwest including: fabricating structural steel plate girders for highway, railroad and pedestrian bridges; truss bridges; box girders; railroad engine underframe assemblies; roof and box trusses for building and plant operations and other similar structural steel fabrication work.

MIG welders use inert gas and electric arcs to measure, cut, and assemble metal projects. They may also be responsible for:

• Reading blueprints: MIG welders interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications
• Calculating dimensions: MIG welders measure and mark dimensions and angles
• Inspecting materials: MIG welders inspect materials or structures to be welded
• Selecting material: MIG welders select the right filler metals, wire electrodes, and gasses for different welds
• Preparing work area: MIG welders prepare metal surfaces
• Determining gas ratios: MIG welders adjust the amperage, voltage, gas flow rate, and wire feed speed for an ideal weld
• Managing metal bond defects: MIG welders carefully fuse metal components, avoiding contamination on the weld
• Monitoring welding process: MIG welders monitor the welding process and adjust heat as necessary
• Cleaning equipment: MIG welders strictly follow the safety procedures at all times during operations, including the proper storage and cleaning of welding tools and materials
• Testing welds: MIG welders test the weld for cracks, defects, and porosity 

Mig Welding experience is a must. 

Steel toes required.

Must have high school diploma or GED.
