RESPOND is Hiring a Director of Early Childhood Education Near Camden, NJ

WHO WE ARE: Respond, Inc. is a charitable, not for profit 501 (c) (3) organization created by community residents to enhance and promote the economic independence and general welfare of individuals and families residing in Camden City and county. This mission is carried forth in the provision of comprehensive services in child care, a senior adult center, programs for homeless adults, rental housing and home ownership, youth services, employment, economic development and associated programs that help people help themselves.
RESPOND, Inc. is seeking a Director of Early Childhood Education in North Camden, NJ. This is a full time, salary position, 8-hour shift, Monday through Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Early Childhood Education will be responsible for the leadership and operations of our Child Development Centers. With extensive experience creating and implementing innovative early childhood curriculum, must be a strong relationship builder, organizational skills and a deep understanding of child and family development.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a new vision for excellence in early childhood education for Respond, Inc.
  • Develop and implement curriculum and programming for children and families based on developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Create an ambience of being the leading Child Development Center in our community of outstanding professionalism and innovation.
  • Inspire and engage with parents and potential families in a manner that encourages confidence, enthusiasm and insures participation.
  • Manage, implement, and monitor annual budgets of the Child Development Centers
  • Manage a large professional staff of 5 Center Directors and the Manager of Educational Services.
  • Direct program compliance with New Jersey state licensing.
  • Provide staff and faculty with meaningful professional development opportunities, ongoing supervision, observation, and regular evaluation.
  • Work collaboratively with other Respond departments, Early Head Start, Board of Education and community organizations
  • Oversee maintenance of the Early Childcare facilities
  • Work with the Executive Director in the development of an Early Childcare Development Center marketing plan
  • Create an enrollment plan of new children and retention of existing children
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Knowledge of early childhood development principles and developmentally appropriate educational practices.
  • Must demonstrate strong written, oral, and computer-based skills
  • Enthusiastic personality that will engage parents, children, coworkers, and all stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with adults and children.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with teachers, support staff, parents, and students in a positive and constructive way.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficient with computer software as required for recordkeeping and documentation.
Education And Experience
  • Bachelor degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field; Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of four years management and/or leadership experience overseeing an early childhood program
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) certification preferred
  • CPR and first aid certification
Compensation
  • Salary is $60,000 to $70,000 a year commensurate with experience

Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods standing and walking throughout the centers.
  • Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to sit and stand on the floor throughout the day, and bend, kneel, or squat to be at eye level with children.
