JOB SUMMARY:
The Lead Medical Coordinator (LMC) is responsible for promoting timely quality medical care using sound medical judgement to unaccompanied minors ages 0-17 residing in a 24-hour shelter. The LMC serves as the first point of contact with primary medical care providers and supervises all aspects of the medical department. Must ensure compliance with established medical policies and procedures, relevant Michigan Department of Health and Human Services licensing standards, and Office of Refugee Resettlement contract requirements. Must ensure the use of child friendly, trauma informed interviewing during all interactions with youth. Must order medical supplies needed on a day to day and create/adhere to the inventory process. Must strictly enforce and adhere to the Office of Refugee Resettlement’s (ORR) Zero Tolerance Policy to prevent the abuse and neglect of unaccompanied minors and adhere to all relevant ORR policies and procedures always ensuring the personal safety of the children and youth being served.
