Reston Consulting Group Inc is Hiring a Telecommunications Field Service Engineer II - Secret Near Washington, DC

We are currently seeking a Telecommunications Field Service Engineer II (SECRET CLEARANCE) for a full-time position as part of an ongoing contract in Washington DC near Farragut West metro station. This position requires you to work on-site with no remote work options available.

Please note: Due to the secure nature of this government agency, all candidates must be U.S. citizens and an active Department of Defense SECRET clearance (no interim adjudications will be accepted).

The successful candidate will receive a contingent offer based on the outcome of a government background check. This may take several weeks, and the candidate cannot begin actual employment until the background check is successfully completed.

Primary Duties:

  • Onsite customer support of DO voice and network service requests, resolving user requests and providing user instructional assistance when required.
  • Manage and update existing ticketing system as work assignment requires.
  • Perform, manage and coordinate DO daily voice MAC process with all other DO entities to facilitate a well-coordinated MAC process
  • Telecommunications engineering functions, which include design, engineer and implementation of structured communication connectivity solutions incorporating copper, fiber optic cabling utilizing open office architecture and zone cabling approach to support VoIP, ISDN, Digital and Analog voice, LAN data, secure LAN data, CCTV & CATV, in compliance with Commercial Building Telecommunications wiring standards(EIA/TIA- 568) studies, analysis, and implementation of telecommunications technology solutions.
  • Provide onsite monitoring of installed network infrastructure, conduct network infrastructure testing, conduct network infrastructure evaluation activities, and recommend changes as required.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of network infrastructure trouble conditions and facilitate repair efforts.
  • Design, installation, certification, MACs and repair on premise distribution to include CommScope SYSTIMAX product line, copper, fiber optic, satellite access television, and coaxial wiring schemes in accord with EIA/TIA wiring schemes.
  • Provide onsite technical support to outside communication service providers with service installation.
  • Provide leadership for the effort to develop and implement next generation telecommunications solutions and Architect and design next generation telecommunications solutions.

Requirements include but are not limited to:

  • Current, active government clearance of Secret or greater
  • Certifications: Security , BICSI RCDD, CommScope SYSTIMAX
  • Bachelor’s degree in telecommunications, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in telecommunications field engineering or related field.
  • Experience with troubleshooting to include Analog, DSL, T-1, DS3, OC3-48, ethernet and other services as required
  • Knowledge of zoned cabling
  • Technical support to telecommunication users, program managers and other contract personnel.
  • Onsite technical support during the preparation of drawings and specifications for electronic and telecommunication equipment as required, Work Orders, etc.
  • Conducts inspections and performs preventive maintenance as required.
  • Experience with Service Now (SNOW) ticketing system
  • Provide leadership to the other TEV personnel during moves or installs
  • Ability to work independently, cooperatively and collegiality with others, on multidisciplinary teams and to establish professional working relationships
  • Takes direction well from management
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language
