Demonstrates necessary practical, technical, or specialized skills required for the perioperative nurse, in accordance with regulatory standards of practice.

Assumes responsibility for preparation of surgical suite, including OR schedule verification, overseeing area safety and regulatory compliance, instrument and equipment setup, accuracy and completeness of medical charts, and readiness of medicines and other supplies.

Assumes responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, surgical site verification, and patient positioning and/or draping.

Participates in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols, according to hospital policy.

Circulates or scrubs for surgical procedures in accordance with current practice. Serves as first assistant as needed, if credentialed. Operates essential equipment during procedure as needed and ensures proper function.

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

• At least 1 year of OR experience
