Revance is Hiring an Associate Director, Environmental Health & Safety Near Newark, CA

Job Summary:

The Associate Director, Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) is a lead role for the Corporate Services and Security Operations of a state-of-the-art cGMP biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility. This position will lead and maintain the EH&S function on a corporate basis for Revance Therapeutics and manage all environmental compliance needs for a biopharmaceutical plant possessing a CDC Tier 1 Select Agent registration. The position will be required to manage security, space planning, furniture and related capital projects and equipment installs to support corporate and GMP locations as directed. This position is also directly responsible for development and implementation of business continuity planning and Payment Card Industry (PCI) security requirements for Revance. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of biological fermentation, aseptic filling, and laboratory operations and associated equipment.

Reporting to: Sr. Director, Engineering & Facilities

Location/Territory: Newark, CA (onsite)

Salary Range: $135,000 - $185,900

Responsibilities/Essential Duties:

  • Design, develop, implement and oversee strategic processes with defined objectives and measurable deliverables, to meet long-term security, EH&S and emergency program needs and interests, and develop tailored strategies to achieve the same locally, regionally and nationally for Revance sites.
  • Design and develop security policies, standards and procedures, emergency operations, continuity of operations, as well as response and recovery templates and plans, to ensure compliance with applicable risk management policies, laws, regulations, and privacy legislation, as appropriate and consistent with the philosophies and policies of stakeholders.
  • Conduct security audits, assessments, and recommendations to enhance the physical security of physical offices in compliance with PCI and Select Agent/Toxin standards. Participate in implementation of remediations.
  • Develop and maintain business continuity planning at a corporate level.
  • Play integral role in Select Agent and security operations, and ongoing capital construction projects related to same scope of activities. Management of GMP quality documentation related to construction projects.
  • Plan, direct and coordinate installation, operation, maintenance and repair of security equipment and infrastructure.
  • Direct and oversee Select Agent and GMP compliance activities for Facilities Engineering and Corporate Facilities.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for department operations.
  • Establish and maintain organizational procedures and controls in providing effective and timely services for Select Agent and Environmental Health and Safety Compliance.
  • Coordinate and maintain emergency response and security procedures.
  • Responsible for management and administration of EHS function including all relevant procedures and policies.
  • Develop risk assessments, SOPs and other documents to support GMP manufacturing and lab operations. Should possess knowledge of biological fermentation, aseptic filling, laboratory operations and associated equipment.
  • Leads the Select Agent compliance program as Revance's Responsible Official for the Newark Site.
  • As Revance's Responsible Official, candidate must live locally within 50 miles of the Newark, California manufacturing plant.
  • Management of Pest Control and GMP janitorial program to support manufacturing and laboratory operations.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master's degree & 4 years' directly related experience; OR
  • Bachelor's degree & 6 years' directly related experience; OR
  • Associate's degree & 9 years' directly related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or other technical field.
  • 5 years' experience as an environmental compliance officer with full responsibility for a facility.
  • 10-12 years' EHS, GMP Facilities, and security experience in biotech/pharmaceutical environment.
  • Ability to develop annual and multi-year operational plans and budgets in partnership with Finance for Facilities, Security, EH&S, and Select Agent activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and ensure compliance with procedures and maintain Documentation Systems for cGMP, Select Agent, and EHS compliance.
  • Experience with leading corporate space planning and services such as janitorial, catering for corporate sites, and other related programs.
  • Experience with GMP equipment and facilities operations/maintenance and related quality systems.
  • Knowledge and experience of leading and managing capital projects in a GMP environment.
  • Experience with pharmaceutical operating requirements including aseptic processing and biological fermentation manufacturing.
  • Experience with managing GMP quality events including deviations, change controls and CAPAs.
  • Experience with Select Agent or potent compounds.
